Piero, I would really appreciate to get to know and meet the builder of your preamp! Since I have build the "Müller Classic" I´m loving eylett-boards. The builder of your preamp did his work so affectionately and precise! And the sound of the youtube video is verry promising.

Cool to welcome the guy who made the 1st one. Well, he is
"my tech" since 4 or 5 years. Last year he did the maintenance to all my poweramps



And by the way, you mentioned Marc Mueller, indeed his work,
or at least the pics of his amps had a very heavy influence when we discussed
the details last december.

The question is: how many volts (DC) on the CF-cathode? >>200V? (I bet it is at least 210 or 220)

Okay, short introduction: I alway wanted to have a 3+, but the prices
in germany, even on the used market are ridiculous, I'am not
willing to pay 1700€uros for a used one.

Well, I have seen several of them go for below 1500 and even have seen them for around 1350. There´s currently a fully modded one for sale at HRI for £1150, that´s less than 1350.

Well, I have seen several of them go for below 1500 and even have seen them for around 1350. There´s currently a fully modded one for sale at HRI for £1150, that´s less than 1350.

I saw 4 for less than 1500€ in the last eight weeks, what should I do, "hey dude, stop
building, I found one for a reasonable price!"

The 1700 were the average price last summer/autumn before Custom Audio offered a 20% discount

And sorry Yoeri, you were supposed to be on the RT list in the first video!
It was your CAE set-up which made Olaf so enthusiastic. He mentioned
it a 100 times on Tube-Town ... and made me even more hungry.

I asked him on the Frankfurt fair: "Hey, can you introduce me to him, maybe I can visit him, it's just
an hour ride from Aachen to Boortmeerbeek!" But he was too busy ( in the Diezel booth) to make this wish come true

I'am not familiar with the differences/specs, but I guess it's the first one with more gain
in channel2 und less gain (compared to 3+ SE) in channel 3. But thats only a guess, only John Suhr knows it for sure.

Hahahaha, yeah that stuff always happens. But you have a PTP CAE 3+, not many people can say that!!!

To bad we didn´t meet in Frankfurt, I was there for 2 days. And Olaf is always busy t the messe!! Shoot me an email and let´s meet either at my place or in Aachen and do some rack testing. Aachen is just over the border, not even far enough to let me put my foot down

Having had 3 different versions side-by-side, I would say a mixture of them all would be best. I think the 3+ has to much gain in ch2 but the tone is great. There are so many variations on this. Mine has none of the standard mods nor the tranny mod but it had a number of the caps replaced with orange drops, supposedly by Van Weelden. After 2.5 years, I don´t feel the need to mod it AT ALL. The only mod I am curious about is the blackface-mod for the clean channel but I really like the clean as is. I did do the preamp-tube-swap-dance and have some NOS stuff in there.

But furthermore it is much more ravishingly seeing someone, who developes my Layout further to perfection!

I wouldn't sweat it. I love the original 3+ John made. One of the best preamps of all time.
