Wow to me they sound similar. I guess a lot of people just dial in stuff to sound the same way...I do the same thing. It sounds good \m/

Thx man,! It didn't take me long to find some good settings! I tried to dial it so that it sounds close to my mark 3. So far I love it! It is really tight and it has so much gain! I got it for 180 euros shipped. Compared to my old vh4 pedal I definitely prefer this one and I think it's a keeper! More clips to come soon!

It was one that was on my to try list as well. That and the Horizon Devices pedals and the Amptweaker stuff. So many pedals so little time :)

Haha that what I ve been telling my bandmates the last couple of months! If only I had more free time!! The other guitarist of the band might snap the amptweaker tight metal pro... It's meant to be great!

Sounds great! I assume you are just using the poweramp portion of the Torpedo?
I have both the Theta pedal and the newer digital Theta DSP unit.
I used to have a Torpedo CAB to use with them but I never gelled with it, I just don’t like the Torpedo IRs.

I’m using the digital Theta for recording into an Ownhammer IR now and it sounds much better.

I still prefer the original solid-state Theta pedal for playing with a cab, I typically use the ISP Stealth poweramp for portability, but I can also run it into the fx return of my Marshall 2203x and it sounds godly.

Thx dude! The theta preamp is really amazing! Yes, I'm running it through the torpedo cab and I'm eqing through the torpedo software. Yesterday I ran the preamp in the loop of my mark III blue stripe and it the tone was so brutal! I'll be posting more clips soon! Which Impulses are u using?

Your clips sound great! I never really looked into this pedal but I am now quite interested in getting one. I do have a question if you don't mind.......do you have any experience or thoughts about running other pedals with this unit...good, bad, or otherwise? I would be wanting to run delay and modulation and the lack of effects loop has me wondering how nicely the Theta plays with pedals. Thanx!

It’s a preamp pedal so anything you run after the Theta pedal and before the poweramp is in the “fx loop”.

Right now I’m using the Ownhammer IR of the EVH 4x12 with PR25 greenbacks and royer 121 mic.
But this is for a specific recording project. I find the Theta DSP presets are all eq’d to the built-in 4x12 Greenback IR so when I turn it off to use an external IR it works best with other Greenback IRs.

The Theta pedal is easier to tweak for any speaker cab. I’ve used it with a Marshall 2x12 with G12-T75, Creamback 65s, and Marshall v30s. Seems to work well with anything.

I figured as much but also wanted to know how pedals sound in a general sense when used with the Theta. Also, If I wanted to use it both clean and distorted, do you have to first switch off the preamp then switch on the distortion side? How do you guys do it? Do you just leave it on the distortion side and adjust Gain 1 and 2 accordingly? Thanx!

Thx man! You should definitely get the preamp!of course u can run any pedals! It really depends on the way ur using the preamp. For example, I am now using it through my torpedo cab. So that means that if I want to run some pedals, I just connect it to the pedal and run it through the torpedo cab unit.

The best way to use em both is to use the preamp as a clean channel and the distortion as ur main lead channel. That means you have to switch the distortion or the preamp off.

Thx for the detailed answer dude!

Okay. I didn't take into consideration leaving the preamp channel on and just switching the distortion channel off and on. I was thinking you had to first switch off the preamp channel then switch on the distortion channel.
