New Pedal Month!
As some of you know I've been on a pedal binge lately. I managed to acquire a few of the ones I wanted but there are still more to come! I even have one of my Mesa's up for trade/sale on the forum for pedals.
So here's what's in so far:
And here's a brief review of each. I'll be happy to do an in-depth review a little later on, after putting more time into them!
BK Butler Tube Driver
One of the smoothest overdrive pedals out there. Very capable of the Gilmour / Johnson sound as many describe. There are some sweet spots you'll find in the tone controls. Not a high gain pedal but very classy.
Suhr Riot
One of the most kick ass distortion pedals I've ever heard. So far I'm preferring the middle toggle position as it seems to offer the thickest tone. This little pedal has an incredible amount of gain on tap it it's extremely easy to dial in a great sound. I'm having fun engaging the pedal while on the lead channel of my amps. It gives some extra thickness and a bit of volume boost.
BB Preamp
I'm happy I got this one. Through a clean amp it offers a very sweet classic overdrive. Through a distortion channel it really pushes amps to new levels, making them aggressive or thick, your choice. What impresses me the most about this pedal is how volume sensitive it is. It's a joy to use!
Voodoo Lab Amp Switcher
A wonderful amp switcher, quality all the way. I used to have the Morley Tripler and hated it...full of ground loop issues. With the Voodoo Lab you can control and ground issues, dial in levels, and from what I read (but haven't done yet) program it to function in a few different ways.
Sonic Research Turbo Tuner
Very accurate, takes up very little space. The metering takes a little adjusting to but honestly you get the hang of it quickly.
Tech 21 Sansamp GT2
I haven't used this to its proper potential just yet and have only tried it with an amp. A range of sounds to have fun with. It's pretty cool but not something I would run live. I'll get back to you on this one when I try recording direct with it. Gonna try it on bass Wednesday, will report back!
So that's my report for now! The pedal hunt continues!
