Changed from original thread to one about my new pickups.
Recently received a neck pickup that uses an Alnico 4 magnet from Planet Tone. This thing rocks!
A lot of depth and punch but doesn't getting woofy. Top end is clear and present but not harsh. It has a nice driving sound, with lots of clarity.
I have a new set, but only have this one in for now, waiting on the bridge. Will be sure to post a full set review once it comes in.
I have the guitar wired up with just a Volume pot and 3 way toggle.
This is super versatile - sits at home with jazz and stays tight for heavy riffing! I was hoping the A4 would do that. The guitar is in D standard, and sometimes, pickups can be picky with lower tunings. So surprisingly fun to play with gain, which I am doing more than usual due to waiting on the bridge pickup.
These look absolutely killer as well - black covers with gold hex head polepieces. Will upload a Pic soon.
