Picked up a used but in great condition 99' JEM off of evilBay. It's got a ebony board on it. Really into ebony boards lately for some reason. I know the newer models are rosewood. It's got a few minor dings and a bit of buckle rash but overall very clean. Been wanting a Vai JEM for a lot of years so I'm happy to finally add one to my guitar family.


 
Not sure why I'm on an ebony kick lately. Guess I just like the dark look of it. Gotten to the point I can't stand brand new maple anymore. Too clean. I do like Birdseye maple though.
 
Nice machine to be sure, congrats! I prefere the tone and feel of rosewood myself, but nothing looks as tits as ebony. Without the Jem and Steve Via's input if fear my beloved Rg570 line would not have turned out as favorable. Ibanez necks aren't for every one, but IMO nothing shreds better. Enjoy my friend, and if you ever decide to sell, that guitar holds it's value like few others.

Man I've been a maple guy my whole life. Just recently I got a deal on an EVH Wolfgang Stealth guitar and the ebony neck really surprised me. At gigs I can see it so much better now....plus it looks cool ;) :D :rock:

Man I want one those. I've got a blonde natural one that I'm getting bored of.
 
I like the feel of the neck. I've gotten away from the shredder type necks over the last few years. Been playing more Charvel's over the last couple of years so more accustomed to that type of neck. But I like this one. It's similar to my 7 string Prestige neck.
