Got a strat with a fulcrum type tremolo - nothing locks. I tried the nut sauce and not working so hot. Anyone try those roller nuts?

Love 'em. I have them on all of my Strats. However, some people dislike the change in tone that comes with them. Go to your local store and play a Strat with one and without one (both with the same body wood and fingerboard wood). You'll get an idea.......

My guess is the problem is the nut is not properly cut for your string gauge.

thanks for the heads up - I LOVE the way the guitar sounds and would hate for that to change...

Agreed.

thanks dudes - a definitely possibility - this is an off the shelf guitar and has never even seen a tech. I'll definitely try that first!

think I may take up piano

I like mine cupped…… oh wait yeah I have a LSR on my USA Deluxe Fender, love it and no problem. Works great with 9s or 10s

I read some where that if you are pulling the guitar flat all of the time, it is the tuners and if it is going the other way it is the nut. You probably know that, which is why you asked, but throwing it out there if you didn't.

It does sound like the nut isn't slotted big enough. Be careful to not take out to much. It's really easier to dig a deeper groove while you are filing it wider.

thanks man - I'm no good at anything like this with a guitar. I'll take it to a tech. I can swap necks, pickups and pickguards and get guitars how to play how I like them, but when it comes to neck relief, intonation, or something like this I just take it in.
