I blame the last person that touched your guitar!!
In all seriousness there is still the 90%+ around here that respect each other and understand tone is subjective as is gear, etc... We seem to get those that want to stir up some trouble fun sometimes, me being one and see what we can get cooking. Most know who these types are and the idea is not to cause animosity but to liven things up for some good discussions.
With the revealing of the CCV and the Axe FX II countdown going on around the same time the level is raised I bet from the norm. Both camps have a lot of strong hearted members and are vocal about the equipment. You have the CCV guys who love to play real tube amps and kick out the tunes and move some air. They are the bad boys of rock. You also have the Axe FX guys who want to upload that software, gloss spray thier hair and play pac man on thier phones and then jam those clips out of that USB port. So a lot of anxiety going on with just those two camps.
Then you got guys like Pete Thorn and Mark Day, they keep putting out good clips with any equipment they get their hands on. What do they think, that they should be able to make anything sound good? They have to stop this, or the boutique game is going to fall on its face......
I think your observation is a good one, coming at a time of change and movement in the musical industry. As we mature we know each day matters and so we have to either do something on our guitars, with our band, write a song, play a gig, punch a singer...... at the very least get out a new sysex file before noon. Gheeez the options are bewildering us all and how can we continue to mingle in one place with the plethora of options......
Wow I am reassessing my place in the realm of Rig Talk right now. We each have likes and dislikes and we all love music and gear. I think we all need to lighten up and quit taking the insults personal or possibly letting go of the insults for a while. (well except any short bus jokes towards bytor, that has to be allowed or I am out of here). But to everybody else some respect would be nice.
i mean really we have come to the conclusion of the last two days that some of the best providers of clips on the forum should put up some clips or shut up? I mean WTF??? Dave, Chubtone, Mark Day, Pete Thorn, I know I am missing some more. These clips were good, maybe not a tone for everybody but all very usable tones that would work for making music. Admit it, at the end of the day what you use servers 3 purposes.
1) It has the tone you desire.
2) It is in your price range
3) It moves you emotionally and inspires you.
If those three things can be conquered with your gear then #@$!@#$ everything else. Just hang on for the ride and have fun here. Some great guys on this board. I am sure a lot of them cannot stand my arrogant remarks sometimes, but I really only mean things in jest. I have made some of the best friends I have on this board over the last 3 years. Guys I have a lot of common with and guys that I can learn from and teach a bit too as well.
Observation is a good thing SteveK, I see you as the Wyatt Earp here and I am going to avoid the OK Corral for the next few days!!
