Larry amps are Masterpieces, in sound, construction, & in every possible way.

With that said, 2010 will be a very tonefull year for me :m17:

So Harmony Central chased away the mention of Larry, Mark Cameron, Sozo Capacitors, etc etc etc etc we could make a pretty lengthy list.

Harmony Central is now a cultural wasteland. If you want to talk about amps, tone, not BS, avoid it.

Nicely put, Gary.

Hey guys, do you like to see a piece of Larry-History?

This is my very first 'own' tube amp, I've built in 1989 - meanwhile 20 years ago  :

I know, it's a blurry photo with my pocket cam, but here's a better one from a photograph, taken for my advertisement at that time:

By principle it's the same circuit inside, like in the 'Kirk Hammet Marshall Rebuild' - a dirty clean, crunch and lead sound with common tone control, Bite & Punch controls for the lead on the rear, but w/o effects loop and only a 50W power stage.

The chassis is only 17 1/4 inches wide, so that it was possible, to also make it to a rack mount amp.

Isn't it nice, this small baby? :D

Fortunately yes. Thank you for your kind wishes!

Eye surgeries usually are easy meanwhile, but still w/ exceptions - and I've really had a horror trip.

There were several week, where I really have been fearing, that maybe the ARES-3C rebuild for thegame has been the last Larry amp ever.
It's really not funny, when by reading you can't i.e. differ between 0, 8 & 9 or between a C, G & O...
... when the one line is sliding into the next one - and you anyway aren't able, to watch a bright PC monitor longer than 3-5 minutes...

... or by soldering, when you see 2 eyelets instead of one, and after 2-3 seconds a 3-th eyelet is showing up.
You don't know, which one is the right one to solder and by trying to stick the cable, you first hit after the 3-th try.
Then seeing lots of reflexion lines & circles around light sources - no way, to drive a car, aso.

Two surgeries later and after several week of stabilization time all became well again :)

Thank goodness! I can continue building my amps again

That sounds like a real scary ordeal. Terrifying, really. Sorry for taking that crack at you earlier. I knew it certainly was no laughing matter- but definitely underestimated how flat out scary that must've been.

Really glad you're back in the saddle. Amazing what those doctors can do.

I don't have a Larry amp yet, but I love what you've been doing for Jon. Definitely a fan of the both of you.
