OK, so I did install incorrectly...Here's what I have...A White and bare from the Gibson PCB....

The Motor City has a Black, White, Green, Red and bare...

SO Motor City red and white together and covered...

Motor City Green to Gibson White...

Motor City Black and Bare together and connected to Gibson Bare....

If someone would please confirm, I'll be blasting in no time!

Well, I did the above and it still sounds off...Weak, muddy...???

Fig, what value POTs do you have in that guitar? 250k will kill your cut and definition. Good for some pups, bad for others that are already voiced on the thicker side.

My guess is u burned a pot out or the stock gibson wiring is bum

I would replace the volume pot with a new 500k pot and try that. I think the stock gibsons are 300k. Also some guitars or setups are better at producing pinch harmonics than others. I would try raising the action up a little at a time until it starts doing what you want and see if that helps...

??? You're connecting one pickup's wires to the other's? The pickup wires should go to the vol pots. Or do you not have the usual Gibons 2-vol 2-tone setup? Are you working off of a schematic or wiring diagram?

Swap the black and green from the MCP.

OK, I'll try that....WIll get back...Thanks so much for all the input here..I just don't wanna deal with techs for shit like this unless I have to....

Thanks....I'll be back with results...

I didn't know there was anything more to show....Two wires from the Gibson and 5 wires from the Motor City...My cellphone pics weren't picking up the small wires very well so I did my best to describe....I do appreciate the help regardless...Pics would help....If this doesn't work I will get out the good cam and get you guys the info that you really need..... :)

Doesn't Gibson use 300K pots? Most aftermarket humbuckers want to see 500K pots. The 300K pots might be loading your pickups down.

Gibson Pups are usually really hot.

Do you have a fluke meter? If so set it to the "ohm" sign see what reading you have. Black ground to pot and red to hot soldered lug.

Try mounting the pickup backwards (adjustable polepieces facing the neck), may be somehow the coils got swapped.

I tried the backwards mounting on my SG once. It gave a more Fendery glassy tone but pinch-harmonics became much harder. I reckoned it had to do with a coil being under a node on the string or not. This may be a completey false assumption though. Worth a try anyways I guess ?
