Got this from berkeybill at hcaf, Marshall JCM 800 Series Model 2000 250 Watt amp head!!!!!!!

Crikey!!

Looks like some kind of PA head, with the XLR connectors and stuff. I can imagine it being sorta loud :lol: :LOL:

It's rare, I've haven't seen many of them. It is discussed in "The History of Marshall" by Doyle starting on page 46. There is a guitar (200w rms) and bass(300w rms) version. The production run was only a couple of hundred.

That's the only place that I've ever heard mention of one (until this thread)...I've never come across this model personally.

There is a handle on each side of it. It's extra deep because of the 6 6550s (guitar version) or 8 6550s (bass version) loaded in it :lol: :LOL: They are heavy like an SVT head and just as massive as the VBA400. :rock:
 
Can you imagine playing a bar with that thing? The look of the club owners face as 2 guys are carrying in one amp head for a guitarist. HAHAHA would be priceless!! :hys:

i always wondered if there was a way to cook a THD hotplate... i think i found the amplifier to do it :yes:
 
that amp had something cool on it, prob one of the first to use a variable slope control to "sweep" thru different tones. I use it on mine

Did it have a presence control? I dont see it.
 
I dont think so but some other notable things, it cascaded the 2.7k/.68 into the same long before hot rod guys started doing it. I think this amp is around 80 81.. I know people were cascading super leads and hot rodding MV's but some of the early mod guys, if you saw some of their early mod schematics and then looked at this schem from earlier, its very interesting. Marshall was trying stuff. I think they decided the extra noise with added gain stages was just best left alone or for modders. ? ? ? hard to say but interesting
