I make my own pedalboard cables with plant waves. Easy enough and neat. Not expensive.

For my other signal chain cables I use the cheaper end mogami. The end connectors are better and they don't unscrew like the normal GC cables.

The high end cables? I tried the Golds and really could not tell a difference with another basic good quality cable.

Maybe I don't like champagne cables since I have Budweiser ears.

I spent like $1500 re-cabling my entire 6 amp W/D/W rig including speaker and patch cables and it sounded exactly the same as it did with the cheap assortment of cables I was using previously. They sure look purdy though... YMMV...

Total waste of money to me...

I was hoping it wasnt just me? I spent way too much on these things back in the day. I had a 100ft roll of the George L's and those Lava cables werent cheap, but I never heard any difference honestly. I know I tried my hardest to justify spending the money

I'm with 'ya bro, I still have some whirlwind fender cables that are 30 years old and get used constantly.
I have some high end cables, but I dont hear enough difference to justify the cost

Canare with neutriks..which you have to solder... Or George L's with solderless 1/4". I use both in my rig with great results. Mogami is good.. lava is good... Im not a big fan of Monsters. All the best

i wonder if eddie cared what kind of cable he used, hendrix, clapton, srv... It's proven long runs build up capicitance, which rolls off the high end, a buffer fixes this.

think it's bs personally.

I have a bunch of cables I've bought or won over the time. My favorite sounding cable is the Evidence Audio Lyric HG. Love using it for recording, when you don't need to move, since the cable is one of the stiffest I've tried.
Used Mogami for everything else, and even for recording, depending on the session.
I've been using EVH cables for three years now and I do not regret. They sound good, they are strong, well built, low noise and are the most flexible cable I've tried so far.

If you dig the expensive stuff that's cool... I'm glad that I'm satisfied with the cheapies.

there is definitely a different between different cable manufacturers. each cable has effective inductance, capacitance, resistance, and conductance which will alter the high end roll off. and the physical dimensions within the cable protect against EMI and whatnot differently also. I stick with mogami cables and have never looked back, I noticed a big difference in my setup compared to cheap patch cables.. FWIW
