I was reading the hype over there. And you know what I did? Yawn and scratch my balls.

Shea I know you're frugal but really, you shouldn't be conducting your own physicals.

There is general dislike for mesa mark IV's over there. The usual arguments too, too many knobs, couldn't get a good tone, too compressed, etc.

They all seem to love Carr amps which I didn't care for the one time I tried them.

Therefore I am not taking this Carol Anne amp too seriously, I didn't even see the thread over there....

I don't either, neither would Eric Johnson , Joe Bonamassa, Dr Know or anyone else who happens to play one......and you know why......because you spelled my bloody company name wrong.......thats why....

Two years on, I can officially say you may have been mistaken, I'm still making a living from it. It's all good. No harm done or meant.

Cool setup dude. I had quite a Marshall collection myself, though I have let 5 or 6 pieces go in the last year that needed a better home where they would get used . I still have a couple that I won't sell though. A '66 JTM-45 and a 72' JMP and at the last count 7 4x12's that need thinning out a bit. I generally use a 2x12 with EVM-12L's these days.

Yeah I was just dicking around. I happen to fall on this thread by accident. If you got mad every time you found something like that, you've have a miserable life. I understand why people would have that view point, there are so many companies springing up.

I thought it was funny :D

I'd personally love to try one of your amps, especially the high gain version you were describing

I have a love hate relationship with that tolex / grille cloth / cream knob combination. I alwyas thought it looked great in reality, but never looks great when in a picture. That was the proto. The standard Revo is Black with salt and pepper and black knobs and is more fitting for the tone of the amp.

Holy crap old thread

After speaking with people that own Alan's amps I will man up and say I had it all wrong............dont blame the equipment but blame the Ford fans :D After reading about Alan's work on vintage marshalls I figured it out he was not like the other builders over there.

MAn no kidding about past threads coming back :scared:

errrr...ok....

Yeah, I stumbled on it and it made me smile. Thought I'd have somne light hearted fun. I'm definately not annoyed or bothered by it at all and I'm certainly not going to plant a turd on my own front doorstep by causing trouble. When another amp Company springs up I think it's just the default attitude.
There are so many latest and greatest on TGP that I've seen it (and in all honestly thought it) myself about some companies sometimes and I've usually been right.
THe thing was I was hardly new to it. I had just previously been quietly repairing and modding amps and building the occasional model since around 1985, finally moving over to building full time in 2005.

Joe Bonamassa sure makes his sound great, although hes one of those guys that seems to get a similar tone out of most of his stuff.

Yeah it's actually amazing how different his amps feel though when you are playing them. I was shocked.

Every players tones in his fingers ultimately. The amp is just a tool to help him realise it. Some work better than others for every player but you will always sound like you at the end of the day. This is the problem with GAS...a lot of guys don't realise that.
I had a guy comment about a video clip I had and said how good the amp sounded and asked which CA model it was. It was a fly in gig in the UK and I was using a TSL-100 combo. I didnt like how it felt at all, but I still sounded like I always do....for good or for bad......lol....
