I picked one up in near excellent condition semi local to me and I have to say this guitar plays great! The neck is very comfortable... the pickup is shit as well as the cheap ass hardware...
If you have one and modded it at all what did you do to it?
I’m looking into locking tuners(hipshot) and replacing the bridge but what’s a direct fit? Gotoh fixed seems to be the closest looking one to the stock.... I may just replace the saddles... as far as Pup goes I may actually give the dimarzio D-activatorX a shot...

Is that your Oscar in your avatar? Superb condition, man.

Always been one of my favourite fish and I've been longing to own some for... ahem... 45 years. Have had to put up with friggin' White Clouds for 15 years now 'cause I can't afford heating, either for the house or tanks.

Yes that’s my buddy “Grumpyfish” he died about 6 yrs ago... he was huge. I raised him and his mate in a 75 gallon then later upgraded to a 100gal.. he hated children? When my nieces and nephews were over the house he would charge the glass ?

Sorry to hear you lost him, man.

Did he let you scratch his back when you fed him? Some Oscars like that. :D

If I had a hello kitty guitar I would definitely put about 5-700 dollars in upgrades into it.

He actually did... he was awesome

Yeah! I can tell.

His "perfect" health at the time of the 'photo tells me that, apart from his extreme dislike of children, he would've had a great nature. "Get off my lawn" would've been what he was trying to say I reckon. The kids would've been seen as a PITA disruption. :gethim:

These are the major mods I did to one of mine (I have 2 HK Squiers)

Gotoh Hardtail bridge - Item # 0179-B (StewMac)
Hipshot Tuners - Item # 4203-B (StewMac)
Black TUSQ XL Nut - Item # 1866 (StewMac)
SD Pearly Gates pickup and push-pull pot for split coil
I also swapped out the input jack, and volume knob.

I've only made one mod to my other HK and that's a Dimarzio SH-10.

Was the bridge a direct replacement? I do not want to have to drill into the body

I love Hello Kitty stuff. It just cracks me up every time I see a guitar, drum kit or HK appearing in a Japanese-artist's film clip. It never gets old for some reason; I get a chuckle out of it every time.

That pic above. Classy!!
I loved playing one every time I checked out a amp at the local guitar store!!
Damn thing ripped!!

So I added Hipshot Locking Tuners, brass knob, brass input jack plate, tree strings, brass saddles, Jalen Franky pup, EVH low friction 500k pot and a switchcraft input jack. Plays amazing great neck and it's sounds awesome.

I’ll post mine when it’s done... I ordered all black hardware and a Dimarzio D activator X... not too shabby spent under $200 on hardware and electronics... thing is going to be sick when it’s set up properly.
Went with a steel Gotoh bridge, hipshot locking tuners, and black straplocks...
