Hey friends... for some reason I have been on a Diezel kick the last month or so. I may have to join the diezel camp here in the near future and wondering from those who have played some of their series, what your opinion would be?? I am only really pondering the Einstein, D-Moll, or VH4.

The heaviest I get is Alter Bridge type stuff(and not their drop B tuned songs)... Play a lot of 80's Rock, Hair Metal, Blues, and I do enjoy some country hybrid picking from time to time. My main concern and focus is the lead channel for solos. I play a lot of Timmons, Gilbert, Petrucci, Aldrich inspired stuff and want a lead channel that is more warm and creamy with good harmonics.

Clean channel and switching is really not that important to me at this time... Just want a great rhythm channel for classic to modern rock and a superb lead channel(master 2 if need be) for leadwork. Almost pulled the trigger on an Einstein a few times but just got cold feet... It's way more in my price point but also don't want to throw $ into something that is just ok?? Hope Im making some sense here

Still got my Gower Killer Kali++ and still loving it. Just been wanting some Diezel flavor for some reason the past bit. Cheers and thanks for your input

Hey Cory.....you left the one you need off the list - the Herbert. Wait for a good deal on a used one to pop up. If you like AB, Myles uses a Herbie. It is a thick, warm amp and will cover a ton of genres.

Hey Steve.. hope all is well bro. I had a Herbie years back and just found it really tight, compressed and un-organic.. That being said, Ive grown as a player, gear guy, etc since then so maybe I would like it more now  I know Myles as well as Andy Wood uses one and they love em and sound great... I just think I need something a bit more open with a slightly more aggressive mid structure. The Herbie was great at single note riffing, chugging, etc.. Just found it blended and somewhat muddy when playing open chords or anything with string separation. once again, this was years back. Cheers

Haven't tried the others, but I have had a Herbert since 05. It's an excellent amp, some people say it's no good in a band setting. I only use mine in band setting, leave off the mid cut and don't max the gain and it cuts fine. It also works with boost pedals, but you really have to back off the gain (channel 2 in - mode, gain at noon). It's an amp when set to extremes can really disappear in a mix, but with reasonable settings it's great. My other guitarist has a VHT 50CL and a Shiva, everyone in the band (including the other guitarist) prefers the Diezel. Never been much of a Marshall guy, but with low gain settings and max out the mids, roll back the bass it doesn't sound far off to me.

The D-Moll is a bit like the Herbert, but more open, especially channel 3. It can go from mild to wild.

I've owned 2 Herbert's, VH4 and the Einstein 100.
Currently have the D-Moll and it is my Favorite
Diezel so far.
More Open and Less Compressed/Processed sounding
than the Herbert but still Very Aggressive in its own
right, Great Amp!!!

That's pretty much what Peter himself said... It's suppose to be the Einy's big brother in a way, but different transformers and therefore more headroom and less compression... plus it fills all the gaps that the Einstein lacked ie: switching functions, and a little gritty at mid gain apps. Im definitely interested in it but it's got to be A LOT better than the Einstein to warrant the extra $.. at least for me. Right now Im Einstein, D-Moll, VH4... at least for my current needs and budget. Maybe I should just take up bowling :D

Yeah that pretty much addresses anything I didn't dig in the Herbert.

Lots of love for the D-Moll.. which is a good thing. Im between the Einstein and D-Moll based on my above needs. Keep the opinions coming if youve played one/both or at least heard them in a room. Cheers

I currently have an Einstein, Herbert (being sold to a friend in the following months) and VH4
Out of the 3, the Einstein is probably the one for you. Haven't heard the D-Moll, but it can't get that much better than the Einstein. I find all 4 modes (3 in channel 1 + channel 2) are usable, which is not the case with the VH4. It's also the less compressed of the bunch.

Might be willing to sell mine... it has the footswitch mod so you can switch between the 3 modes of channel 1.

D-Moll will be your best bet for the flexibility you're looking for. Furthermore it's not a high-tension buy-in price.

Just go for it.

Peace,
Mo

Im telling ya, if I could find a decent deal on a used D-Moll, I'd most likely jump on it today. Hard to find tho and I can't afford new. Cheers Mo
