Thanks, man! I have to say that this is the best deal I've ever done and it's ironic because at one point I traded a beautiful R8 with Duncan Antiquities that was just killer for an old Charvel pointy that wouldn't fetch $1000 nowadays. It is a deal I've always regretted and to be able to get an even better R9 for a Charvel (admittedly a MUCH nicer Charvel, of course!) makes me feel a lot better.RedRider":3ev88o90 said:sah5150":3ev88o90 said:If you knew the deal I got on it, you'd hate me even more!IndyWS6":3ev88o90 said:I hate you...

I told Paul he was batshit crazy....but I told him it was a choice of having a 3.8k - 4k guitar sitting in the closet or a 2.5k guitar that you play the crap out of...honestly a very hard decision, that I dont think I would have made the same way as him...but I guess you owe him some decent Karma!
As for the guitar...I owned it for a while (I took most of the pics of it you saw steve) and I thought it was a KILLER R9!! When I had it there was a bit of a tuning issue and I had Paul asking for a trade back before I got it fixed...he added a new bridge and a setup when he got it back and I assume it was REALLY rockin then! But for Paul, I guess he was just wore out on it and wanted to do the Charvel with a wiggle stick for a while so you got the smokin-est deal I have ever heard of for a fabulous R9!!!
All I can say is Congrats and DIBS!!!!
The guitar was nice when I got it and the tuning issues have obviously ben addressed because it never goes out of tune for me with the locking bridge.
I have to say that the guitar is a totally different animal since I put these OX4 pickups and original Centralab pots and Black Beauty caps in. The guitar sounded very nice with the Bare Knuckles, but I was looking for more of a vintage vibe and these pickups are the best PAF clones I've encountered by FAR as I mentioned in the original post. I'm amazed at how good they sound with my amp and that even though they are low output, I don't feel like I'm struggling for sustain...
I love this thing and I've still got a Bartlett coming at some point…
