Just had to share my excitement with you guys. Been looking for one for a loooong time. Never should have sold my other blackface. But it was a dual and now a triple is on the way.

Serial 3482. So a very early G. Might mod it to F specs - might not be necessary.

I love the fuller sound of the G. Not saying an F isn't great too, just a bit different. I have an early G from 95. Your's is a 94 I think.

You should just try the C mods...but in steps. Like, changing the gain pots to 1K and presence to 220. Or jump a few resistors...do one or two at a time. See if that works.
Either way, congrats and just putting a boost in front may be the only thing it needs!

Yeah that is the wise way to go about the mods. That way you know specifically what it is that changed the tone or feel of the amp.

On the Boogie Board(Grailtone) they deciphered how to make a G into a C. I did 5 out of the 7 things to my last F Triple, it improved the Red channel a ton. The amp got brighter, tighter and just plain better sounding. The clean channel got a little gainy but nothing the guitar vol couldn't help.

Nice score! I had an early G small logo just like yours. I sent it to Mesa for the C mod and it came back tighter, punchier, more aggressive, with much more focused and usable low end. It was a big improvement imo. PhilC owns it now, maybe he’ll chime in.

Nice score! I may have missed something in my recto obsession, but I don’t think g to f is a thing. However, the g to c works very well! Pick up a peppers dirty tree and prepare to have your mind blown.

I wonder why they stopped doing the chrome chassis.(?) I can't remember seeing any that wasn't early to mid 90s.

Maybe Gibson will want to re-issue the recto blackface. (?)

Take the tube covers off the preamp tubes and the grill that goes over the power tubes off. problem solved. no more buzz.
