my friend has a C+ just like that one and it was a classic boogie mark era tone like many other boogies i’ve played. did not sound nearly as cool as the blue stripe III i have now or my friend’s green stripe combo i had for a year.

Remember a year ago when Lukather’s iic coli and cab sat around forever at 20k?
it was originally listed at $50k

look i love Luke and i’m a total nostalgic boogie fanboi but i’d rather pay $50k for a peanut M&M to undeniably flaunt my fiduciary stupidity to the public versus supporting gear scalpers.

Well the 50 k price tag was for 2 original C+ coliseums and cabs (matching pair) Quite a few people out there regret not buying those … no?
Luke, that you.
I loved your work on 21st century blues

$2500.00 is a fair price for an original DRG short head. Anything more is an ass raping.

Hate to say it, but these days 5K is a fair price for that. Hell, 5K is where they were pre Covid.
Sucks, but the market is what it is.
Think about it…people are paying 2-2500 for a Mk III! Gimme a break. Sorry but they are like an ass sandwich tone wise compared to a C+. I paid 7-800 bucks for each III that I tried to like. Ugh. No thanks. So, by that pricing the III is worth 1/3 of a C+; since at that time C+ were 2500 like you say. If a III is 2-2500 then, 6-7500 for a C+.

my ass sandwiches were delicious?

a friend who is a great player and massive collector currently owns a prime C+ combo with matching 1x12 and tonally i prefer my blue III and my other buddy’s green III combo. mic’ed up in a band context it might be a different story.

but i’ve played dogs in every catagory and one bad tube or speaker or aged out component will skew the vibe of any amp.

I played a Red Stripe III that was SO close in tone to my DRG C+ amps. It just did not have quite the dynamics without the 105 PT. I can see why some folks think the III is just as good, until you play them in an A/B situation.

maybe i gotta play a III or IV if they are so close or better than the iic+ like i seem to be reading a lot these days, i know i paid $4k for my iic+ and that kind of seems like a bargain based on tone and feel, i think id drop $6k for another without blinking an eye :dunno:

I had a iv and while it was badass I sold it and got a c+ and have no regrets. They are very similar but I like the tone better on the c+ and the simplicity more.
