One Riff, 14 High Gain Amps

I'm a novice with recording, but wanted to try a little experiment since I've owned and currently own so many amps. I need to figure out how to normalize audio levels but got them as close as I could.

I recorded 14 different amps, consecutively, using the same Cab IR, Same Guitar, Same boost, same pick, to try and give an accurate comparison of a bunch of amps I own. I need to figure out how to time stamp the Sound Cloud Track for each amp as well, if anyone could help with that. Let me know your thoughts on this!

The Shiva sounded #1 to me.........
Then I scroll down to this ^^^^^^
Thought I was nuts, but maybe I'm just Butter Nuts......

OK. First of all. You are NOT a novice at this. What you just did takes a lot of skill and patience all around

Secondly - that is a bad ass little riff you got there.

C: Was this at all with your iRig set up? With an SM57?

Lastly, I'm sure my ears are biased. I opened up your soundcloud in a different browser window so I could keep track of where I was at (damn rig-talk URL linking bbc code fail). In hind sight, maybe I should have just noted them as 1, 2, 3, ... but oh well. So some of my next comments I'm sure are biased.

The 800, Bogners and the Friedman were def good in a bouncy open uncompressed way.
The Splawn and the VHTs had the most clarity and note separation.
The 5153 and the PRS seemed boxy.
The 2000 and VH4 were fine - no issues.
The JVM and Stiletto were my least favorite.
The 800 kicking things off definitely set the bar high but no real winners or losers they are all great amps in their own right. Just different strokes.

As far as time stamping these, why don't you just add a Comment on the time line?

Great job all around. I LOVE amp demos like this as I can quickly judge a lot of amps at once.

I’m totally surprised. I liked the Uber green and the 5150 best.

No way I would have predicted that.

It's crazy the differences in room that do not show up on recordings, to be totally honest. The 5150 III is one of my favorite amps on this list, and I did not like how it sounded on this recording very much at all.

Same with the Pittbull. It definitely loses it's top end cut and sparkle here, where in the room it can quite easily rip your head off with mids and top end.

Going only on recorded, the Marshalls especially 800 and 2000 are the best.

Shiva was pretty solid.

5153 has a slightly more modern voicing perfect for that riff

Stiletto really impressed me. Liked that one too.

Splawn was way too congested and restrained. I see what people say now about "tight". Doesn't breathe.

Pittbull and Deliverance were too polite for me. smoother on recording.

Diezel was a mess in the mids for me.

Bogner green better than blue as was less over hyped in bass.

PRS I hated, terrible mids

Runt has weird hollow mids, I hear this in most Friedman stuff. Weird mids , smooth top.

I've thought of doing this myself with the small collection I've accumulated. Maybe one day I'll get around to it. I've had a lot of amps over the years, and currently have the following.
