I'm a novice with recording, but wanted to try a little experiment since I've owned and currently own so many amps. I need to figure out how to normalize audio levels but got them as close as I could.

I recorded 14 different amps, consecutively, using the same Cab IR, Same Guitar, Same boost, same pick, to try and give an accurate comparison of a bunch of amps I own. I need to figure out how to time stamp the Sound Cloud Track for each amp as well, if anyone could help with that. Let me know your thoughts on this!

Here are the amps, in order of appearance:

Jcm 800
Jcm 2000
Jvm 410h
Bogner Shiva 20th
Splawn super sport
Mesa stiletto
Vht Pittbull
Vht deliverance
Diezel vh4
Bogner Uber rev blue
Bogner Uber rev green
Prs archon 50
5150 iii 50 6l6
Friedman Runt 50

OK. First of all. You are NOT a novice at this. What you just did takes a lot of skill and patience all around

Secondly - that is a bad ass little riff you got there.

C: Was this at all with your iRig set up? With an SM57?

4. I'm glad you finally did this...I've been waiting :D

Lastly, I'm sure my ears are biased. I opened up your soundcloud in a different browser window so I could keep track of where I was at (damn rig-talk URL linking bbc code fail). In hind sight, maybe I should have just noted them as 1, 2, 3, ... but oh well. So some of my next comments I'm sure are biased.

The 800, Bogners and the Friedman were def good in a bouncy open uncompressed way.
The Splawn and the VHTs had the most clarity and note separation.
The 5153 and the PRS seemed boxy.
The 2000 and VH4 were fine - no issues.
The JVM and Stiletto were my least favorite.
The 800 kicking things off definitely set the bar high but no real winners or losers they are all great amps in their own right. Just different strokes.

As far as time stamping these, why don't you just add a Comment on the time line?

Great job all around. I LOVE amp demos like this as I can quickly judge a lot of amps at once.

Thanks man! Appreciate the kind words. Honestly, this is almost more for my personal enjoyment than it is scientific research, it was so fun to see how all these amps differ, and it also reminded me why I've kept each one. They all have something cool going on. Some of these amps haven't been turned on in months so it was good to fire them up and crank the living shit out of em.

Where's the Blue Voodoo?

I will be adding a whole group of additional amps to this some time this week. I have a whole bunch that I didn't have time to add.

I've thought of doing this myself with the small collection I've accumulated. Maybe one day I'll get around to it. I've had a lot of amps over the years, and currently have the following.

Rivera Knucklehead II
Rivera Knucklehead KR55
Bogner Uber Rev Blue
Diamond Nitrox
Krank Revolution Series One
Rhino Beast
Peavey Butcher
Laney LC50

Oh and there's a Peavey 5150 Sig around here somewhere too.

It's too bad I'm the other side of the border to you, because I could bring them all down and let you do your thing with them.

That is too bad, would love to add the Riveras at least. I've had like 5 butchers, they're cool amps as well!

Sweet riff too Bad.Seed?

Thank you! I have no idea why I wrote it as I usually play thrashy stuff, but it turned out cool

Great comparison and thank You for effort. It shows that amp is not so important in recorded sound. Player -> cab/IR -> guitar -> boost/amp
For me, it was JCM800 and Shiva for touch more modern sound. DSL holds with much pricier amps.

Yeah, dollar for dollar the DSL is hard to beat.

Looking forward to future shoot outs Bad Seed.

I think its funny so many of us chase the pefect Boutique hi gain tone when in fact it is pretty hard to be
A boosted 800

The 3 Marshallls sounded similar to me very punchy a not too tight or sterile in the lows

Have a Supersport on the way. Sounded good.?

I love my Supersport. Badass little amp that has balls above its size and punches above its weight class. You will love it when you get it. I boost it with a BB Pre if needed and it's a great combination.

Definitely agree with the DSL comment on the recording but in the room, I have not ever felt the same. Especially at playing volume.

For the whole clip I dig the Splawn and VHT pitt. Archon was my least, diezel was as someone else said a mess. Stiletto was mildly disappointing, but not the OP's fault.

Badseed, badass work!

No lie, I sold this dsl when I bought my Friedman JJ100 and immediately missed it. I managed to buy it back 2 years later and am so happy I did. This one has the mojo.
