so i thought common knowledge was they ran the iic+ into the loop of a marshall and used 65's for MoP?

That seems to be the most common misunderstanding of the Puppets tone. But Flemming Rasmussen dismissed this years ago. It was only on some solos the Marshall was used as power section.

And in Flemmings notes from the MoP sessions it’s noted 300W cabs, which would be 75’s.

I’ve had 3 cabs now with the vented 75s, and 5 with the 65s(still have a 79) and they are fairly close tone wise, the 75s being a bit brighter, while 65s a tad looser.
But both killer with a Marshall or a C+, Recto…

Das rite! It's just as big as Mesa spec vs. all other V30's in all likelihood.
It is right! Although now that im a bit more experienced with them, I think the early non mesa UK v30s are yet another different sounding variant. They all have their strong points - its just more of your personal taste.

With the 75s, ive recorded these cabs for literally like a decade now, and its always been the newer ones, and im amazed at how different they sound than the new ones. These are more like blackbacks or something, honestly
