Oooh I see your selling something in classifieds…

I think that people list things at ultra high prices in hope that, eventually, some un-knowledgable person will come along and buy without doing any research. I guess that if you don't really care if it sells you can do that.

When I was looking for a Furman PQ6, there were two on ebay, one for $675 the other $440. I got mine in a deal for less then half of $440(thanks to MetalPhoenix!), let alone $675. A year later they're both still on ebay, lol. Oh, but the $675 is now $600, PRICE CUT!

When I was looking for a Les Paul trad pro ll, there was one on ebay in the color that I wanted, for $2000. $1 more than the $1999 GC price, + shipping, lol. I waited and eventually got what I wanted for $1200, same guitar, same condition.

I think it's funny how the same people get mad when some one " low balls" em'.

Haven't heard that verb before. Is that some kind of sexual assault crime? That only old men can be accused of? There's probably something wrong with you if that doesn't make you mad

I had a guy try to trade me a Fender American Standard Strat signed by some guy I'd never heard of straight up for my Gibson LPC 68 RI. He said it was an "awesome" trade. I told him he was smoking crack.

I sold a RJM GT22 for 200 more than new   2 almost 2 years later. :scared:

Some people will pay   Also depends on supply and demand. I won't tell you how much I made off of Fractal with the release of the AFX2 :D sold 7 of them the first couple months :scared: Pretty much paid for everything I have without money out of my pocket.

Sometimes you can make money and other times lose money. Then you get offers all over the place.

I love the internet classifieds!! I remember the dark days of trading in stuff I didn't like for .50c on the dollar at Sam Ash in Brooklyn!

Some seller's prices are silly - and the items just sit out there, which is fine. Scroll past and move on to the next GOOD deal!

Some real ridiculous expectations on the classifieds. Someone needs to bitch slap these people.
THIS.

I agree with the OP.

Even though i don't think i would ever buy a 3k amp or guitars costing thousands of dollars and have to pray some random dude actually sends it AND that it's not some sort of lemon or has issues. Some of you guys have more faith than me and undoubtedly more dough to throw at stuff.

Most items that are big ticket or USA made, the sellers especially don't want to let them go for any type of loss so it's usually a no-brainer for people like me to buy new.

With overseas manufactures now making guitars etc. with precise machinery, there's never been a better time to get some pretty decent stuff/try new things and extremely discounted pricing compared to retail. Most sellers of something made in China accept there's going to be a loss and if you wait some out you can really get some crazy deals. These are things us normal folk have to do :) Believe me, if i could shop for all USA gear and have an near unlimited budget i probably wouldn't care as much.

CL has it's share of people with no clue but overall i find much better deals there than Ebay. It kinda reminds me of how Ebay used to be. Now Ebay is so slanted towards the buyer and nervousness over fees has sellers leaving items up till hell freezes over with no compromise.

The sellers with "make an offer" who aren't willing to accept anything less than the buy it now really pisses me off. You can still find some good used stuff there every now and then but it's pretty few and far between for me.
