Open Box Suoerleeds 150 $389 free shipping (multiple ) on reverb from sweetwater

This one has it in spades. It’s got that aggressive razor like cut to the highs that SS amps are known for.
Some of these comments are way off, this amp has ton of available gain and Gain two will get modern af if you need it to.
If you dig SS high gain this amp is a no brainer.
I remember checking out the Hiwatt Crunch 150300's a couple years back but this Super Leeds amp seems to sound a little better to my ears.

I haven't heard a Class D power amp punch like the Super Leeds 150 does in your video. I know the Orange Super Crush S/S amp was/is a Class A/B output section and so were the old Randall RG100ES's. But I don't care for the Orange amp texture and feel but Ty Tabor makes them sound great.

If the Hiwatt is class D they have found a way to get the power section to punch like Class A/B.

I saw some pics of the SL 150 output board and blew them up. The output transistors are marked C5198. They're used in a Class AB configuration.

It punches as hard as any strong 50/100 watt tube amp, and from what I recall of them, hangs with the RG and VH140C in that department, but with much better tone.

I've got one coming for 390 shipped. Jeff's clips sold me. And, the 150 seems to rate the wattage in a different way than the RG I have here....The Randall Century 170 would be 120w with a 4 ohm cab; 80w with an 8, and 50 with a 16. This HiWatt seems to rate a bit higher vs the Randall with regards to output/cab ohm ratings.

Beyond Blacks clip reminds me of all the RG100ES's that I have owned and enjoyed.:2thumbsup:

Well then I guess that is pretty much a confirmation that the output section is most likely Class A/B....which is why this amp punches like a Class A/B tube amp and old Randall RG100ES.

That little 40 watt Dime amp does not punch at all like an old RG100ES but this Hiwatt seems to punch quite well and with modern components, Kudos to Hiwatt......... and under a $500 pricepoint as well.

Thanks for digging into to that further Mr. Chumbucket!:2thumbsup::cheers:

Here's an RG100ES chassis/circuit board pics. It used 4 Mosfets in the output section. I will also note the RG100ES does not have an output transformer like a tube amp. so the fact the Hiwatt looks like it has only a power transformer as well is inline with the old RG100ES.

I’m running into two 16ohm cabs, the amp is seeing 8, so even if that halves the wattage to 75, it still sounds huge and hits hard af.

It possible that those output transistors on the RG100 aren't available anymore if you blow one. I know that's the case for the old Sunn Beta Lead which was also a great sounding SS amp.

Looks similar to the Century 200II I had for a long time.
