rep from FR said put a piece or folded paper under the strings at the nut edge. If it works it's a finish or imperfection problem on the nut. Gonna try when I get home.

I've heard of this fix before can't see how it will work, I'm not exactly sure what the paper is doing. Did he elaborate?

It's not a fix, it's a test to see if that's the problem area. Floyd nuts sometimes have tiny little rough spots in the metal from the casting or a little build up from the plating process and usually folding some sandpaper over and running it through the front edge of the slot to clean the bottom where the string rests will take care of it and fix the problem.

Yes, sounds like a good test. I'm having trouble picturing where the paper goes. Right under the string in the slot to lift it up?

Thanks for the link, but unfortunately this isn't the issue. Neck is set perfectly, but only the open high has an issue. I put a piece of copy paper under the string directly under the clamp. Not in the V slot. Fixed the issue. So, I assume it's the finish of the nut that has a rough spot or the paper is lifting the string high enough to not make contact with first fret thus suggesting the need the need for a shim.
Need some sandpaper though. Not sure which grit.

Update: I used my wife's multiple grit finger nail Emory board and went from coarsest to smoothest, and it turned out great. 95% buzz gone. Gonna put a very thin shim I bought under the nut to get rid of the last bit of buzz. Strings 1 and 2 have a very slight buzz when played harder. Looking at the nut , it seems a lil bit more room could be there but it's pretty much unnoticeable at this point. Thanks for the help guys. Clay
