Queensryche was the first legit rock/metal band I ever saw live. They opened for Judas Priest during the Angel of Retribution tour. I listen to Operation Mindcrime regularly in my car. It has to be one of my favorite albums of all time. Rage for Order is also damn good.

To this day, I find Empire to be one of the BEST produced releases of all time. The studio workmanship and producing is to me, just bloody awesome!! Just my 2 cents... I love the ambiance, the room feel, the clarity and the detail - to me it is an excellent reference CD to base a lot of others on.

V.

I Absolutely second what you said, bro. Everytime I listen to it I just cannot believe how huge, clear and perfect that record sounds.

It's one of cd's in my truck right now...love it...saw Queensryche live back in 91 ?? doing the Livecrime show....awesome...one of if not the best concert i've ever been to....suicidal tendencies opened for them. Odd pairing of bands but was awesome all the way around !

So I am the only one who has this CD and notices the clipping? It clips on every music system I have. Maybe its time to get another copy, argh...

I saw them a bunch of times back then. They didn't headline when Mindcrime came out. I saw them open up for Def Leppard on the Hysteria tour, and they didn't go over well. Then they opened for Metallica on the Justice tour and they went over much better.

They finally headlined when Empire came out and they played the entire Mindcrime album on that tour. I'm talking arena tours though and not smaller venues.

I have been mesmerized by Queensryche since Queen of the Ryche hit the radio in like 1981. Not mentioned above is The Warning," which is an amazing album as well!!!! RFO is by far my all-time favorite. OM is genius. I love that stuff.

There is no question they miss Degarmo. I will give Wilton props for carrying on and do try and go as often I as I can to support them. I saw them open for Alice Cooper/Heaven and Hell and they sounded great (Wilton was using the H&K Switchblade). However, the last tour with the circus stuff sucked.

They did use an ADA MP-1 on Mindcrime. I am sure there are other amps layered in as well. Wilton had a Fish in his later racks, Don't think there were Bogner XTC's around at the time ;)

That disk is in my car right now. Love it. They weren't the same after DeGarmo left. :aww:

Saw them when they opened for Metallica (AJFA) and when they came back 6 months later on their headlining tour for Empire. They played the entire O:M Cd and it was killer. Saw them a few years ago when they did the same thing and it was not near as good with no DeGarmo.

First time I saw them was opening for Ozzy on the Ultimate Sin tour supporting the Rage album. I saw them open for Metallica as well. The Empire tour was excellent and glad they did the whole OM

BTW, AJFA tour, man, my ears killed for 3 days after. This was back in the day of festival seating which was the open floor area at the stage. I got mowed down by the front Mains

Cheers,
Mike

Saw the OM tour in Chicago, best show for that type music I have seen.

My wife years later got all freaked out when St Mary got snuffed.

I was listening to this album when I was a fetus. I also listened to it in my gigantic talking stuffed animal/cassette player Mickey Mouse at the age of one, and now I listen to it in my car. I thank my brother Matt for introducing me to the kings of early progressive rock
