I'm not saying their guitars are not good, but they're just all over the place with their stylings on the pro mod models now. Can't find just a simple guitar with a variety of colors, black p'ups, etc... They force styles and combinations of components on you now. Want a black guitar with black p'ups? Sorry, we are only offer a black guitar with gold harware and white p'ups. I don't like a single thing they've introduced this year. The direction they've taken is for the worse IMO.

Well, black Charvels with black pickups are readily available used, and Charvel is probably trying to find ways to differentiate its new guitars from something that can be bought much cheaper from Craigslist/eBay/Reverb.

I don’t disagree that Charvel’s catalog is a bit rambling, but if they keep producing the same thing, people eventually just buy used stuff, which doesn’t help Charvel keep its lights on and employees paid. They have to try to sell new stuff, which means making different stuff, even if it’s different just for the sake of being different.

I think it's pretty sweet with all the new colors that they are putting out. I guess they are trying NOT to be a boring guitar company, and I would assume that the number of players that want a plain, simple looking guitar are far outweighed by the number of people that want color with bright flashy shiny things. One of the things I wish Ibanez did with more of their lineup. They always looked so boring and simple. Not that it's a bad thing, just would like some more color options.

so the whole brand sucks cause you dont like how they match their.... colors?

I think the natural wood one with the ebony neck and Floyd is sexy as can be. There will be one in my arsenal before too long.

Trying to figure out what people will buy, and how they will buy more is tuff to pull off these days. I think the Pro Mods are hard to beat for the money

I understand where you are coming from but I think they are keeping things fresh and cool that you can get one that might be a collectible later on because it was only done in one year. I dig the Chlorine Burst or whatever it is called. The blue one looks badass! You are right though that they should at least have one basic black one.

I’m going through a mid life crisis, so neon pink and rocket red are right up my alley. Cosmetics aside, they’re the best deal for the money right now

ive been gassing for a bunch of the new charvels lately :dunno:

I'm all for them changing it up. But don't force combinations of colors and components on me. Offer a standard pro-mod with black hardware in a variety of (new) colors. All the pro mods they have now look like some 50-60 year old men ordered them custom shop.

I wish they would do a run of customs like they did for the Music Zoo mid 2000's. Simple old school colors like Hugger Orange, Robbins Egg Blue with birdseye maple necks. Sure you can still order them through the custom shop, but it was drool fest to be able to check these out when the Music Zoo had 10+ in stock. That run and the Nitro Series run were really awesome, but the prices were way out there. Bring that line back w/out the crack smoking prices and I'd be all over that.

Anyone know where the satchel model is made? For $1399 I’d hope not mexico

I liked those music zoo runs... wish they did more with the old standard tremolo an not the damn floyds... but probably only five people out there want the standard trem lol

They are made in mexico, USA you'd be looking at a $3k guitar... pups alone are $300, what do you expect? They sell it at the pro mod price? Satin paint job is also a nightmare from what Ive been reading and is labor intensive to get it right as it can't be buffed, has to be laid down right from the start

So Charvel sucks because you don't like the color of certain pickups or hardware combinations? LOL

I disagree completely, I hate Floyd's and rosewood fretboards, so that means pretty much Charvel's never really been an option for me until recently. Seems like they've finally opened up with more options and not some narrow view of what someone thinks a Charvel guitar should be.
