So, as some of you may know, I had little time available to test the Sig x - 1000 euros used . However, since my budget is limited for the time being, I don't want to spend more than 700 euros for a used amp.
Again, I don't gig, little time to hit the studio, really into recording home using my suhr + two notes torpedo CAB.
Mainly into 80s 90s thrash. I play rhythm stuff - no leads - don't care about cleans.

Let's meet the contestants...!

VHT Deliverance 60 500 euros - no loop
Vht Pitbull Fifty CL 750 euros - with GE
ENGL POWERBALL 100 500 euros
ENGL FIREBALL 450 euros
LANEY IRT 60 400 euros
LANEY GH 50L 300 euros
FRAMUS COBRA 600 euros

Unfortunately, I ve never had the chance to play one of these amps! Thank you in advance guys!

Fireball. Though, the Laney GH50L would make a great thrash amp with a boost!

Really? Glad you said that cause it's the cheapest of all ahaha! I guess my VFE Dragon would boost is nicely!

The D60 will get you the most clarity and thump out of those listed IMO. Very little compression=great clarity. The others have a good deal of compression, which may be what you want. But I feel that the D60 compares favorably to a Wizard and an SLO...in clarity, thump and articulation. No chance those other amps would compare in the same way. IF those attributes are important to you.
Plus the Deliverance would get you a tone that is very different from your Mark III.
I'll always say the best tone for the buck is a Deliverance used...such a killer tone.

Thx a lot man! Yeah I think I won't like the ultra saturation so good clarity as u mentioned might be what I need! Also, I ve been looking for a Wizard amp for many years here in Europe but I've had no luck!

Hands down, my choice would be the D60. I already know it reacts well to the Torpedo Reactive loads, as I've recorded it myself. It's a killer thrash amp, and I use it myself for that. Boosted on the more setting is tight, punchy, clear thrash heaven.

Fireball depends on the model. I have played both, and prefer the 100 to the 60 as it has more mids to cut through the mix. The fireball 60 and powerball both got swallowed up when I heard them live. Could have been user error, but the powerball was mine and I let my guitarist use it, mids were dimed. Didn't hold a candle to the Rev F dual rec my other guitarist was using. For recording, it may be different.

Here is a clip I did with the deliverance and my Chupacabra using my Two Notes Capotor and the cab sims in Amplitube 4

They have a bit of a reputation for that. My powerball and my other guitarists Blackmore certainly lived up to the stereotype, which is why they got the boot. He ended up buying a Fireball 100, which sounds significantly better than either of the other 2 we owned, to my ears. More mids for sure, still very compressed but has a nice grind and clarity to it.

Still, it's hard to match the punch, openness and clarity of a D60 or Pittbull. Both amps work wonderfully for thrash.

That makes me happy!! Let's hope the seller agrees to meet next week when I'm near his town... IMHO 500 euros is a really good price for a VHT

Not sure what they go for over there, but I scored my D60 for $750 and my Pittbull 50/CL for $600, both would be considered very good deals over here. 500 Euro does sound cheap though

The cheapest I ve seen here in Greece is 750 for a 50 CL which needs retubing! So 500 euros for a D60 is a bargain! My mark III cost me 1150 euros!

I gotta say D60 as well. It has been YEARS since I played one, but remember thinking how solid it sounded even at low volumes. I had a Fireball way back around 2004 or so and it was a great amp but did have that compression already mentioned.

Thx man! I've emailed the seller again! Fingers crossed!

Either D60/120 would make my top 10 amp list. Just great tone. My old soundguy raved about that amp when I gigged it, and he's heard my SLOs, 2C+, MANY modded and stock Marshalls etc.

From those D60 would be my pick. Had a 120 for a year and loved it!

Fireball 100 is a beast and flat out roars when cranked up. But it is a very different tone than the D60. Both great amps, but the D60 has the edge for older thrash tones IMHO.

I A/B'd my D60 with the MCII when I first got the Wizard and TBH the D60 gets you in the ballpark. Articulation, clarity, and thump are close to the Wizard, but the mids are the biggest difference to my ears. The Wizard does have quite a bit more articulation, but when you compare the price difference the D60 starts looking REALLY good. The D60 will gut punch and rock the house off its foundation just like the Wiz.

I am going to say Pitt or D60. Just depends on flavor.

I have a sigx and love it. The only reason I don't have a D60 atm is that I like having a loop. AFIK only the newer masterbuilt ones do or you have to mod it.

My only other thought would be Rivera but I don't know what is on your side of the pond. I like my K100 a ton, but it's not a common favorite TBH. I prefer the K100 to the Knucklehead reverb, but the tre is a different animal.

I still think I would go Pitt or D60 tbh.

Let's just hope that it's still available! I ve heard some clips and it I really dig the tone! I think it will compliment my mark 3! Otherwise the cl50 which is at 750 comes with a 6-month warranty.

The Rivera amps are not really common here and from what I've seen they go for 800 euros or more

What about the Peavey Triple XXX?? 450 euros mint condition with new tubes. I think Gary Holt used one in a couple of records!
