So I'm trying to decide between selling my '04 rectifier to fund a new 2010 (or a mark)

OR sending my amp to Voodoo and having Trace do a standard mod and put in a serial loop. I figure it will cost me about the same.

Here's what I need to know:

-Do the 2010 rectifiers have a serial loop?
-if I get my amp modded, will it retain its resale value?
-Is anyone else as frustrated with amp decisions as I am?

If you decide to mod, just make sure it's with a reputable tek and you'll be fine. It's not like modding a vintage piece ;)

1. Sorry, I'm no help on the 2010 Recto.
2. Don't expect your amp to increase in value much after mods. The exception may be those few (Cameron/Friedman/Fortin) that carry a certain cache within a limited buying public.
3. Yes.

Get a new amp......it will do ya good!

that new Recto sounds shit hot dont it?

2010 Recto wins. Yes the loop is serial. They are great amps. If you're not running a tubescreamer in front, it's time to start!

yeah ive heard some clips of a boosted 2010 recto that got into the territory of an engl savage 120. people who own the new 2010's say they did it right this time around - alot of character simillar to the older 2channel ones.

serial loop mod takes like 5 min, move 1 wire , I wouldnt pay someone to do it, I never felt it necessary to boost my recto..

I'm running several od's/boosts depending on what my ears want to hear. TS9, BB+, OCD, or Lovepedal Eternity. Very cool about the serial loop also! That was a good move on boogie's part.

I absolutely have to boost my recto. Even when I'm playing something mellow, I have the boost on and just roll my guitar's volume knob back a bit. IMO it's a must with the rectifiers.

I know nothing about working under the hood of amplifiers. Even something simple like a loop mod would scare the shit out of me. :dunno:

I think I'm gonna just chill for now and just enjoy what I have until I can try the newer rectos and maybe some other amps too. Thanks guys. :)

If its just moving one wire, I could do that provided I got some detailed instructions or the schematic. I am in SW Michigan so I may not be that close.

Before modding an amp, I usually ask myself a few questions:
1. Can the mods easily be reversed?
2. Will the mods increase or decrease the value of the amp? (Generally decrease)
3. Do I like the amp now, but just need a little tweak to put it over the top?
4. Is there another amp that would work better for me that would not need to be modded?

Interestingly all my amps are slightly modded or tweaked in some way. Mostly bias pot mods....
