I need a new 4x12 because I picked up the Meathead and the 2x12 cab I'm using right now will get crushed by it   A guy on CL is offering up a Soldano 4x12 with Eminence legends. I had another cab w/ legends in it a few years back but it was only for a short time so I can't remember if I liked them or not  I was actually specifically looking for V30s but if it's a decent cab I might take him up on it. I'm really leaning toward not doing it because I'll be playing mostly hard rock/metal and I'm not sure if the cab would be capable or the weak link? Since I've never used one I figured I'd get some opinions. Let em fly :D

front loaded so a bit more in your face. I don't like those Eminence speakers myself.

I had a Soldano 4X12 with the legends. Personally did not like it. Thin sounding or something. Don't dig for metal, probably good for lighter stuff.

This is kind of what I imagined it as, less aggressive sounding and maybe better for blues or classic rock? The website claims it is a perfect match for an SLO and the SLO I played a few years back I wouldn't exactly call a heavy amp, struck me as more of a lead based amp

My impressions as well.

Ok, it's official, fuck that cab  There was really no chance of me doing it anyway, just figured I'd see what everyone else thought. Thanks for the opinions guys

V30s will work best for the Meathead. I believe it he voiced it with those in mind.

I owned 3 soldano 4x12, loaded with X12000 speakers. Two slanted, one straight. Sold them all. Just didn't have any life and no midrange. Very lifeless and stiff sounding cabinets.

I have an SLO, passed on SLO the cab. Probably great for cutting thru a mix that was popular back in the day.

Used a Diezel cab with G12K100's for the SLO. Much deeper and brought out the goodness that makes an SLO define notes in a distorted chord. That same Diezel cab ripped with the Rivera Knuck Tre. The KT has a good brutal metal voicing compared to the SLO. I am feeling the G12K100s. Good speaker. Hard to find a cab that will work well for shreddy, rock, and bluesy leads as well and the bone crunch chunk of Rivera KT for metal riffing.

Worth a listen if you find one.

I had these cabs too - but was running a Soldano Hot Rod 100+ through them. 80's all the way. Nice cabs, super light to carry, seemed decent in design and stuff, but they didn't come out and "grab" me, ya know?? I also ran an SLO through them, same thing. They worked well together, pretty cutting and bright, but overall, I wasn't keen on the X1200000000000000034x2304 or whatever the hell those speakers were.

When in doubt, there's ALWAYS Mills :D

How is the MIlls 2x12?? Compared to the Port City 2x12?

I only have experience with the Mills 2 x 12, and I think if you send a message to them with regards to their design and sonic qualities, you'll go with the Mills.

Solid product, solid peeps.

I've only used the Port city and I can tell you it hangs with most 4x12s I've had. Their products are very underrated, I'd love to keep it but wattage wise it can't hang with the MH. I'm trying to make a deal for a Port city 4x12 when this 2x12 sells. Some other douche just offered me a purple Soldano cab with V30s   What's with that?

Yeah, at one time they came with V30's. I swapped out the Eminence speaks for V30's and still could not jive with it. Must be cab design or wood or someshit.

Just my opinion but I think the Bogner straight 4-12 cab is the best I've ever heard! Crushing tight low end!!!!!!

I think you really have to ask "opinions on Soldano cabs with ____ head?" It's a mix n match game.

I have three Soldano cabs. Two 4x12 with Soldano Power speakers and Eminence Legends and a Soldano 2x12 closed back that had Soldano Power Speakers (made by Eminence) and now has two Scumbacks.

The cabs sound great with my Soldano rigs: SLO heads, X99->VHT 2150 or Classic and x88r-> SM100r. Most folks using Soldano amps shy away from the V30. I am very happy with the Soldano cabs with the Soldano gear. Also, the 4x12 cab is smaller than a standard Marshall 4x12 and not heavy which I appreciate.

How it will sound with your Fortin head? I can't say; I've never even seen a Fortin.
