I need a new 4x12 because I picked up the Meathead and the 2x12 cab I'm using right now will get crushed by it   A guy on CL is offering up a Soldano 4x12 with Eminence legends. I had another cab w/ legends in it a few years back but it was only for a short time so I can't remember if I liked them or not  I was actually specifically looking for V30s but if it's a decent cab I might take him up on it. I'm really leaning toward not doing it because I'll be playing mostly hard rock/metal and I'm not sure if the cab would be capable or the weak link? Since I've never used one I figured I'd get some opinions. Let em fly :D
Just my opinion but I think the Bogner straight 4-12 cab is the best I've ever heard! Crushing tight low end!!!!!!

Thanks for the suggestion, I was actually scouring the area for a bogner straight cab but I couldn't find one :aww:

I have a Soldano 4x12 with V30's. It ok but its the weakest cab I own. I have VHT, Bogner, Splawn and Marshall 4x12's and I'd grab a different cab if I were you. They also are a bit smaller than the standard cabs and thinner wood too...

Ya, the bogner 4x12 slant or straight with V30s absolutely kills. Matched up great with a SLO.

The soldano cabinets are lighter, front loaded, thinner wood, different grill. With X12000 speakers there was this "fizz" and no midrange. Just sounded the shits with the soldano SLO on the overdrive channel with gain above 1 oclock. The cabinet sounded nice and vintage like with the clean channel. Just couldn't cut through the mix in a band setting. I played that cab with a SLO, Hot rod 50+XL, Hot rod 100+XL... all had same results with the cabinet. Highly recommend passing on the soldano cabinet and go with a bogner OS 2x12 or 4x12. Good luck.

I think you really have to ask "opinions on Soldano cabs with ____ head?" It's a mix n match game.

I have three Soldano cabs. Two 4x12 with Soldano Power speakers and Eminence Legends and a Soldano 2x12 closed back that had Soldano Power Speakers (made by Eminence) and now has two Scumbacks.

The cabs sound great with my Soldano rigs: SLO heads, X99->VHT 2150 or Classic and x88r-> SM100r. Most folks using Soldano amps shy away from the V30. I am very happy with the Soldano cabs with the Soldano gear. Also, the 4x12 cab is smaller than a standard Marshall 4x12 and not heavy which I appreciate.

How it will sound with your Fortin head? I can't say; I've never even seen a Fortin.

Jim, I hear what your your saying brother. I think it's a style thing, as in what type of music your playing. Really depends on what your after in a cab. Oversized cabs seem to fit me best, since i am playing metal. Personally, I prefer V30's with my Avenger but, i also run a sub. My avenger also sounds pretty damn good with my VHT Fat bottom that is loaded with custom Eminence (P50E's) designed for VHT. Have tried numerous cabs with my Soldano, bottom line is, cabs have come and gone and the Soldano is still in the stable. It seems to sound good with every cab I have thrown at it. Splitting hairs at this point. Cabs/speakers are a taste thing for me. Wish Soldano would cater to some of what I look for in a cab. Big beefy, oversized with V30's would do nicely. The market for such a cab may be too small for them considering they have some other company build their cabs.

Am sure your Soldano cabs sound great with your set up and your band. I swear I have heard clips of your band but maybe I am wrong. By the way, good to see you on RT.

Dude, I wish I would've never gotten rid of my VHT Fatbottom with the P50Es    That was the best I've ever played through, easy

Get a cab at Mesa Mesa Mesa or the place on the other side of town, The Mesa Hut.

Man, Fuck. You just reminded me of something. I had heard the Framus Cobra with a Fat Bottom. It made me want a Cobra. Then I fucking sold it. Later, picked up the FB. Never got the chance to hear Cobra with FB. Son of a bitch. Oh well, :bash: Maybe I will find someone local to bring one over.

second guess myself because I am such a gear whore. Sometimes wish I could revisit some of the shit I have traded off. Maybe not  Pretty content with current rig  Then you go and get this 6 Headed, Meat Spewing, Satan Spawn.

I agree, my old SLO and matching cab with x12000's sounded the best together. Tried the SLO with a new Bog cab, Hiwatt cab, Diezel etc. The rig was a '94, could have made the difference.

No clips yet but we go into the studio this week to mix down our CD.

My tones are clean to lightly overdriven to very saturated ; the stock SLO cabs really work well live and in the studio.

The SLO 2x12 closed cab has a lot more bass and low end than the Soldano 4x12 cab.

Somehow, and I don't know how I pull this off and maybe I don't, my guitar playing with the band runs from funk to hard rock to 80s metal and stylistically my playing is a hybrid of James Brown guitar, Hendrix, Steve Stevens, Frusciante, Zappa and a VH w/o the tapping. We cut one track and I got damn close to a VHII album tone by accident. It was a fluke.

There's a Mesa 4x12 with C-90's at music go round in Troy
for $400,but I'd save my duckets and get an Emperor for the
beating it's gonna take,or a Recto cab.

Haha, can't wait to hear it. That's weird the 2X12 has more bass than the 4. Usually the other way around in my experience.

I know. And it's not a cork sniffering difference either. It's like "Holy Crap!"
After I got the cab and noticed this, I then read Mike Soldano commenting on this in an old interview confirming my observation.
