I thought the clips of the afd were pretty nice. I was gonna get one but was a bit nervous to buy before trying in person. It did seem a bit bright as slash's tone can be nasally with alot of cut and I was worried that that type tone couldnt be dialed out and would be to much. I think the clips in afd mode sounded better for my style. As said above, the fact that everyone that owned it had it listed for resale within the first few days made me quite skeptical. THe differance with the afd and the other amps that bounce around are that all the afd's seemed to go up for sale immediately with no honeymoon period and not like years later.

You have to consider WHO is selling first...............forums are a washing machine of turnaround regarding gear for reasons I have no clue.

Shipping amps sucks as it is, would rather drive a 7" spike through a 2x4 with my dick.

A lot of people selling were just trying to make a profit because of lack of availability in the U.S.

Barzini called me when he got his and said that it was the tone he was always searching for. And he's no Slash fanboi and has gone through TONS of amps.

+1 here on Don's recommendation. He was PM'ing me with the amp description after he got his and he never publicly made a splash about the amp. But, he told me that the amp had a nice hot-rodded tone and was very versatile and that he was digging it a lot. If you want a good opinion of the amp, bounce over to TGP and get hold of Don as he would be the only one I trusted to give me an honest opinion. I checked out some clips, but most of them were Slash fan boys who couldn't set the amp up or play for shit, so you need to discount those clips. I don't think Don owns a stove-pipe hat either.

Weren't there only 100 AFD amps made for the whole world...
I believe the production run was planned to be 2300 worldwide, according to what I saw on the Marshall site.

For those that are saying the power scaling works well, does that mean you think the AFD100 works well at low volumes?

IMO the goods come loud no matter how good the mv is.

That has been my findings as well. I do find some amps work better at lower volumes than others, for example I like my mesa mark IVA better at low volume than my Marshall 2553 silver jubilee, but both sound better turned up a bit.

If the AFD100 works better at low volumes than the 2553, than it is worth me checking it out. I don't get to crank my amps as often as I would like.

Yeah there are only about 10 people on this forum who's opinion matters. Everyone else is a fucking noob that can't play a lick.

I played Mike Fortin's AFD 100 and I really liked it. I don't remember which mode I liked better, but one of the modes was seriosly badass and the other one was total meh to me. I did not find it bright at all.

I played one yesterday.
One mode hs more bass and more sag while the other is tighter on the low end.
It didn't have a lot of gain but I was not fighting with the amp either.
It didn't compress all that much but that would be solved I believe by cranking
the volume.
I liked it but not enough to buy one. I left with a Mark V instead :)

I just got mine and played it for a couple of hours yesterday. I agree the AFD channel sounds the best. The #34 isn't all that bad. It definitely has that brighter/thinner Illusion era tone that I didn't really like compared to AFD. I have to tweak the EQ a lot get a usable tone I like in #34. Regarding the overall brightness of the amp, I'm playing through a Splawn 4x12 w/ small blocks so it's probably cutting a little of that high end. I tend to like brighter amp tones anyhow. If you're looking for something versatile, this isn't really your amp but the one AFD trick it does is cool. I still have my Goldfinger to cover clean and slightly dirty tones.

Ya, its a little bright, but I like the way it sounds and also at low volumes. I like both #34 and AFD modes.
