One is up for sale locally for half the price of a new one. The website doesn't say what kind of speakers they put in them. Any info or opinions on this cab would be greatly appreciated. I'll be using it with my 5150III.

I had all the Vader guitar cabinets and used them for about a year. Basically, they are one trick ponies and only work well with certain amplifiers, IMO. They were created with the buzzy nature of the Peavey XXX in mind, and when paired with similar amps like the 5150, they can sound incredible for heavy metal. They seem to tame the fizz that people often complain about from those amps.

But, outside of heavy metal and buzzy amps, they are far too sterile and bassy to really do much. If you're into heavy metal, low tunings, and have an amplifier along the lines of the 5150/XXX, then it's worth grabbing. I haven't had a lot of time with a 5153, so I'm not sure about that one in particular. They are fairly easy to resale too if you're not into it.

I loved Vaders with my 5150, but once I sold it, the cabinets had to go too. I never even considered changing the speakers, because I can't imagine the custom designed Eminence Legends having that much resale value.

I loved the one I had. They have custom eminence legend V12s which, according to vader, are very close to the old eminence legend M12s, which are currently my end all be all speaker lol. Cab is tight and has good low end response for a 212. The speakers are glued it or something, so they are basically impossible to get out. Id say try it with your amp, if you like it stock, get it, if not, pass. I really LOVE those speakers, and Id love to have another vader cab in the future. I imagine the 5153 would sound great with it. I plyed mine with a JSX and a 5150, and it sounded great with those amps. I guess they can sound sterile for anything other than metal, but I dont really know cuz I dont really play anything other than metal lol.

thanks for the responses. I think its a good idea to try it with the amp first if possible. I play more of a prog rock style (ala Dream Theater) but do love da metal (just don't play that style w/ the my band). I don't like the idea that I can't swap out the speakers if desired. This thing is going to have to really make my jaw drop for me to pick it up.

My buddy had a Vader 2x12 for a while that had a pair of Vintage 30s in it. It sounded good.
