If you had the opportunity to get only 1 of these, which would you go for and why?

2017 Gibson Les Paul Tribute - $750
Ceriatone Chupacabra 50 w/ Classic Tone transformers - $1000

Well.... just going by the stuff in your sig, the Les Paul is not likely to be any better than your Wolfgang, but I bet the Chupa will totally smoke that DSL40c and the Yamaha. Definite upgrade there for sure!

Amps are always my priority. I have most of my cash into my amps. Go with the Chup.

I also have an opportunity to get a Surreal Plexi Wreck 35 watt head for $999, but I'm not very familiar with this amp.

This is RT so i'm inclined to say both ;)

But if it were me I'd go amp first, you can always find a nice LP...

Do you think the Chupa is a bit overpriced?

Anyone know anything about Surreal amps?

Surreal amps sound great in clips but never played one. I'd take most anything over a Tribute Les Paul. The Chupa is a bit on the high side price-wise.

The guy selling the Chupa said he might drop the price some. I sent him an offer but he never responded.

I can't find much info about Surreal amps.

Chupa  But I'm an amp whore. Been playing on the same two guitars for 13 and 5 years while many an amp has passed through the studio with several becoming long term residents. I've wanted a Chups 50 for quite some time but another amp always seems to pop up that peaks my interest. I need to make the Chupa (and an Uber) priority.

With the replaced transformer I reckon it's close to worth that price. I've owned a few Ceriatones, and the stock transformers are very heavy. Even if the sound isn't different/improved by the Classic Tone, I'd appreciate the lighter iron. $1,000 isn't an awful deal IMO, but you can find better.

Hmm, the tributes have gotten nicer these days. I'd hit the Chupacabra, but then again, I'd rather have a ton of guitars and a few amps than to have to decide later on which amp to get rid of.

A Classic Tone transformer is only $60.

Yeah, but most people can't install it themselves - so it's not just the cost of the item, but the work/time/expertise as well. If you can do it yourself, that's great. But most people can't.
