So it turns out I accidentally got myself a set of underwound 2nd Degree Black Belts. Seller thought they were Jerry Cantrell sig pickups. Honest mistake.
I am currently waiting for them to be delivered, so until then can anybody tell me what to expect?
They measure 8.25k for the bridge and 7.23k for the neck. I'm expecting they'll be too polite for my tastes.
I have a set of HotHeads and a set of Detroiters, both of which are my #1 and #2 favorite pickup sets after years of trying loads and loads of pickups (Bare Knuckle, BG Pups, Suhr, Anderson, EVH, Duncans, Dimarzios, Lace, blah blah). So comparisons to those would be very helpful.

Prob be great with a super high gain amp but be too polite for metal with less gainy amp. Those were on ebay for months. I like most mcp ive tried but like the higher winds best

Yeah of the MCP models I've tried, the only one that I didn't like was the Solution.
I tend to prefer medium output, hence the Detroiter and HotHead sets being perfect for me.
Ah well, I guess I'll just give the underwound 2nd Degree BB's a fair shake and see how they work out.
Cheers.

Out of curiosity, what didn't you like about the solution? I was considering it for my les paul. I heard the solution is supposed to be similar to the bare knuckle miracle man?

That makes sense then, because I loathed the Miracle Man also. I couldn't get the MM pickups out of my guitar fast enough. Haha!
I didn't get along with them because the mids just don't have the kind of juicy grinding character that I prefer.
And because they have way too much power. For my style and setup, medium output works better for me.
YMMV though depending on your tastes, playing style and gear.

I have a hothead and angeldust which I like. The detroiter sounded great maybe too p90 middy and not enough sustain for particular lp custom I had and maybe would have been better in other guitar. 2nd degree I had felt a little weak for my taste. Still want to try afwayu for my lp custom where the angelust now resides.
