I'm s...l....o...w...l...y starting to acquire pieces for a new pedalboard eventually. I'm thinking I'll need a looper to cut down on the tap dancing on stage. It's been years since I really did any research on these units...what companies offer these nowadays?

awesome list...thank you!

Now, next question....how do these actually work? Let's say I had an OD, delay and boost pedal that I wanted to all kick on at once but I also wanted the OD to kick on at times with a tremelo...how would you run the OD into 2 loops?

What about wah pedals....would you run these through a looper or are these kept seperate?

Check out my WOBO unit. Love it!!

They will build what ever you need. Lifetime warranty to original purchaser.

Anything you want to add or remove from the chain needs to be in a separate loop. You can also set up multiple pedals in the same loop for a dramatic change.

If your wah sucks tone when off, in a loop would be the way to go, but you would have to activate the loop before and after it's use. I run my Morley before my looper.

The Rivera unit has a pressure pad that goes under the wah to activate the loop as needed, makes it really simple to use..

Some nice stuff you got there....I'm probably only going to need a 4-8 loop looper I think...still figuring out what I want for the board. Most likely will buy used.

What exactly are you looking for? a setup that adds true bypass functionality to your existing pedals with simliar on/off on at a time switching.

OR

a unit that is TB AND allows pre programmed combinations of loops similar to "patches" on digital effects units.

I think I'm looking for TB that allows me to have patches as opposed to single pedals turning on/off...something like this:

button 1: od, delay, boost (on/off)
button 2: od, delay 2, boost (on/off)
button 3: od, tremelo
button 4: od off, chorus or flange, delay

that's just an example

hmmmm...I may need to rethink this. This board is going to be a budget board...nothing major on it. I was hoping a normal looper would work for what I need. I can't be spending big $$ on something switch a few pedals.

then Id say you probably have to give up "patches" and just get a simple looper like the loopmaster or similar from the first list.

but that won't let me do what I want...correct?

True, but you will still be tap dancing presets this way. A looper like that does put all the foot switches in one central location which is the plus side to going that route vs. stepping on individual effects pedals.

If you can solder, these kits are hard to beat.

Here are a couple of budget minded units if cost is holding you back.

I think the Carl Martin octa switcher allows you to set dip-switches for each switch, each dip toggles an effect in or out, so for switch one you could have pedal 1,2,4, switch 2 would be 3,4,8 and so on, letting you use each effect multiple times.

The carl martin does look like a good idea for what I want to do. It's all going to depend on how much I'll have to spend on the board total.
