Been wanting a 2x12 cab for a while but for not too much cash. Only experience I've had with a 2x12 is my friends Splawn 212 loaded with a SB/BB combo. Sounds pretty killer but they are too much money. There is a Black Orange PPC212 closed back cab I can buy for $300. It's empty which is great because I already have to speakers to put in it. It's listed at 62 pounds on the website. The EVH 212 is listed at 60. I totally thought the Orange would be heavier. It looks heavier. Is that pretty standard for 2x12's? Any dislikes with the Orange cab sounds?

I have an Orange 212. It's huge and heavy, bigger than any other 212 I've had (which isn't many). It's as much hassle to move as non-oversized 412s. It does sound good though.

I had that black one and ran it with my modded Single Rec. Only complaint was that it's kind of boomy in the low end. Other than that, awesome cab, especially for what you play bro. Mine had English V30s and killed. I loved it. For $300 you're not gonna go wrong.

I liked it tons but when playing out I really realized how much I liked having a 4x12 behind me. The difference in moving around is negligible but I can say eventually I'd like to get another th fatten up my sound.

My next cabinet purchase will probably be emperor.

I'm not playing out right now but if I were to, I would bring two 4x12's. :D I know what you mean about having the 4x12 behind you. I also have a 1x12 cab that sounds great(for a 1x12) so I figured a 2x12 would sound even better, be big enough to fit my head on top and still be smaller to move that a 4x12 if I wanted to jam somewhere.
I'm gonna be loading it with a pair of Celestion Century Vintage speakers(super light), so that should make it even easier to move around.

Hmmm, not a fan of the boomy thing but I think I should be okay since my amps low end can be really tight(thank you Mr Fortin  ). Oh and $300 is for an empty cab. At $300, it will be my most expensive piece of gear.

LMAO.....just proof that you don't need thousands of dollars in gear to sound good. Your shit is consistently the most brutal I hear on this board, dude.

I stuffed the back with some cotton batting that was about $5 at a craft store, and then threw in an old blanket too....killed the boomy and that cab slayed. If you're going to move it, put some casters on it; it's almost as heavy as a reg 4x12.
