Orange Brent Hinds Terror

Admittedly, I am a Mastodon fan boy. I love it when the guys get signature stuff because the kid in me thinks it's cool. All that said, does the world really need yet another variation of the terror series? Are we supposed to believe this 15 watt lunchbox will replace the VH4 and JMPs in his rig? I just dont get it, but might still buy it anyway. Furthermore, while I am a fan, I don't recall ever seeing him use an orange amp, only cabs...

Interesting enough. I seen them play with Clutch in Phoenix about 3-4 years ago. He was plugged into an orange combo! I couldn't believe it! The back line had Orange 4x12's ... but I spotted the combo. I was facing side stage.

Probably about the same as the Jim Root signature lunchbox which had nothing to do with what he really uses but the preamp is supposed to be based off of the Rockerverb. OK for some that can't afford the real thing I guess, but these things are still damn near half the price of a 100 watter.

Would've been cooler if it's a variation of the Micro Terror, at least these are super cheap and fun to have around.

The volume taper on these EL84 15w Oranges are usually horrible...

The volume on my Tiny Terror is fantastic. It’s my favorite bedroom amp. I’m looking forward to checkout th Brent Hinds and the Rocker 15 Terrors. It’s about time Orange made some lower gain lunchboxes since all the other Terrors have been modern and overly compressed.

But like most ads, I don't buy it. Like Instagram with all of the wannabe celebrities aka "influence marketers/social media influencers" keen for a free meal if you like their food pic or staged swimsuit shot, while they live in their mother's living room.
It's just amusing. I think it's partly tongue-in-cheek anyway in true Brent fashion ("BUY ME AMP!"). Of course it won't replicate a double wall of Diezel VH4s and Marshall JMP amps & 4x12 cabs. It might get a little close if you slave it into a bigger poweramp, maybe.

I think there’s nothing wrong with putting your name on something as long as you stand behind it, even if you use other gear. Man, I don’t think anyone uses their own sig stuff 100% of the time, no one. So I think it’s pretty cool if they made an affordable terror that clones his sound to an extent.

That's kinda the point right... I think since the slax came out, that is Bill's tone. I don't think this can or will get close to the mix of heads Brent has been using for years, being the vh4 jmp mix. Nor will it replace those the way the slax did other things in Bill's rig. So while i find it cool that and band/player I dig has a new Sig item, it could have been cooler... 1st world problems.

Necro bump for this as I've discovered a cheap mod that really gets this thing into EVH mojo land:

Russian 6п14п tubes and a 100 ohm bias resistor. The B+ is about the same as the Z-Wreck (@320v) and Dr. Z uses this NOS tube to ship with the 100 ohm resistor. Stock the Dirty B Hinds has a 150 which is great for warranties and long life but not for rocking your fucking face off.

Seriously guise, these tubes, and more current = an amp that you will have a hard time selling. The bedroom switch tones for late night quiet rockin' are DELICIOUS! Amps love a 16 ohm V30 IME. Roll the tones all the way up to 10 with a mismatch of 8 ohm tap to speaker on the half power setting for that EVH sag/spongy compression and vibe. 1:1 and high for volume, still gives up the sauce. It's so good someone should get one modded like this to Brent, he'd fall in love with the thing.

The above applies to nearly all the terror amps. Try it, you'll like it! You can get it done for < $30!
