I'm looking for something around 15 watts to run with a 4x12.

The LBX is too touchy, and I didn't dig it for lower volume.

I'm looking for light crunch, to 80's metal, Mercyful Fate and Thrash, some Drop-D with a little Gary Moore sprinkled in. Mostly standard tunings.

The OR15 and Bassbreaker lead the way. Just not sure if the low end gets tight on the OR, and a good loop is a must, and older BBs had issues. Hows the Lionheart 20?? The 50 watt kills! Not sure whats up with the new DSLs. Always been a fan of the DSL50., but too loud where I'm now living.

Im looking under $700, new with EZ pay online.

What a killer sounding lower watt amp, so I can save up for a Plexi.

Mesa .22 caliber...gigged one for a long time with a 4x12 and the amp rips.

-why not a 50w ? Most current amps have great MV's & they don't cost anymore than a boy's toy amp with no balls

-OR 15- -(out of the 2 choices)- I don't understand the appeal of the Fender bb @ any wattage, form or setting.... All ORANGE AMPS have better than average note separation no matter the amount of gain...
-The OR SERIES is the flagship of ORANGE & probably note separation/definition....

-of all you -MENTIONED- I'd get the DSL 50 -(first run, early 2000's, with the heat induced board issues, if its working its been fixed or its not gonna happen)- great bang for little buck$, master volume will keep you covered and DAGNAL's ... Lots of simple mind's to be had as well..

Struggling to understand the goal here. You are saving for a Plexi, yet looking for a 15Watt amp that sounds very little like a Plexi? You are also concerned that the 15watt amp may not be tight enough, but its not like a Plexi is super tight.

Myself, I would save for a Plexi if that is what you want.

Of the two amps in the thread title, my buddy has an Orange OR15 and its a great amp. Much more versatile then it looks at first glance. Another amp to consider that will sound more marshally is the victory sheriff, series.

I can't play LOUD, just yet. The Plexi is something months down the road when I get moved. The Plexi, I should specify, will probably be modified, like a Chupa or Yeti.

I think for your needs the Or15 would be best. That amp sounds amazing! I liked it so much I picked up an OR100. I actually preferred the 15w version better!

I just got a used TH30 that I dig a lot. With the power choices it can go down to 15 and 7 watts. Has a loop too.
