I've finally sold my Blackstar and ordered a Ceriatone Chupucabra 50 with Sozo caps, should arrive in about a month so will be recording loads of demos when it arrives! This will also coincide with the arrival of my Taylor double cutaway with chambered Mahogany/quilted maple top and vintage Alnico humbuckers so hoping to get some great tones from this combo!!

cant beat it. NIks prices and what you get for it, hand wired board like that, its killer.

I'm interested to see what you think of it since you had the Blackstar like I have. So far it has been my favorite amp I have had over the last twenty years. What made you want to drop the Blackstar anyway?

Great choice!

For the money, it's insane value. You can't even buy a stock SH JCM800 for the price of a new fully factory modded Chupa or Yeti delivered to your door here in Aus.

I love my Yeti.

Good choice  No need to spend big money for awesome tone....Niks prices are great for what you get.....

Would love to know the cocksucker that "worked" with Nic on this awesome amp he is delivering to the masses.

You reading this cocksucker?

Yeah you are...................

Killer quality for the money, it's a little tricky to dial in with all the bright switches and such but it does have some great tones in it.

Whoa did somebody steal someone's intellectual property? I just thought this was a Jose diode clipper knockoff?

Yeah it does take a bit of time to learn your way around the amp. Once you get it, it's easy but it is kinda tricky at first to work out how to get certain tones. There are just so many slight variations going on...it took me a while to really zero in on certain sounds that I wanted but they were all in there.

Once I switched out the speakers to my Eminence Reigmaker's I didn't like the overdrive tones from the Blackstar, the cleans are awesome though. Plus I just thought that a handwired single channel amp would be cool and I get bored of amps easily :)

Yeah I actually wanted some simplicity after the 3 channel Blackstar with 2 voicings per channel and the ISF control etc. but then I read all the combo's with the bright and era switches haha, oh well it will be fun finding the tones I like!

The blackstar stuff definitely is speaker picky. I still love the hell out of mine and have no plans to let it go. Having said that I've been gassing for a single channel fire breather to add to my collection as of late

Good choice. ;)

I think my next amp is going to be a Yeti. Might sell the Chupa since I like a darker sound. But man, it's such an aggressive amp. Love it!

I was tempted by the Yeti but then I thought I can always dial in a lower gain tone with the 60's era mode and my Suhr Shiba or Way Huge Green Rhino. Would I be right in thinking that?

Ya, Was thinking of ordering a Yeti also......Was talking to Nik about some custom colors for the headshell

how much darker is the Yeti? Is that the only difference? I don't find the Chupa to be overly bright or anything.

Was talking to Nik a few weeks ago and he said the Yeti was less bright and a tighter sounding amp than the Chupa he also said it cleans up to a Vintage plexi much easier....Sounds like a cool amp

The Yeti isn't a super bright amp like a SLP for example. It's warm but had enough brightness for anything I've thrown at it IMHO and naturally it can get overly bright when you push the presence and treble too high.

It doesn't have bottom end like a 5150 for example but with a 4x12 it still has plenty of bottom end for me personally and plenty of chunk when you start pushing both gain knobs. Great palm muting tones. I've pushed it to drummer drowning out volume levels and it didn't flub out like a classic 12000 series SLP (that gets quite loose and woofly in the bottom end); it stayed tight and just rocked.

It's also cleans up easily. Both gain knobs at 9am, era in the middle with bright 2 (the left one when facing the amp) in the centre and bright 1 to your right (again when facing the amp) and then push the master and it's loud and clean. Just dial in more volume or gain or flick a brightness switch or two to your left and it's straight into more crunch and rock territory.

It's got a nice smooth (yet hugely purcussive and still aggro) vibe going one on the 80s and modern setting too.
