Ordered a VHT Special 6 Ultra, on a whim... Any owners?

Yes, I know it's made in China, and yes, it's not a "real" VHT.. But, for $237 shipped new for a 1x12 combo, I think I got a good deal!

I'm just looking for feedback on it from others.. All reviews, and research I've done, lead me to believe this was a rockkin' little 6 watt combo, and with the tube-change abilities, tube-buffered FX loop, and other little perks, I jumped on it. Dragging around a Marshall JVM & cab to "jam" with friends/family, is just a pain in the ass!

I had the Special 6 (non Ultra). It sounded very nice, and seemed to be a great platform for pedals. Volume at around noon was the start of overdrive ( with a strat with s/s/s). Overall a great buy.

I did have some noise problems with mine, and never had a chance to fully test out all the possibilities so I had to return mine, and never had a chance to pick up another one yet. I have talked to a few people on here and TGP who have one, and they never had a problem so I wouldn't worry.

I've had mine for a month now and love it. It's actually my first tube amp so I'm learning the ins and outs. It works well with my pedals. I've been using mosting the Clean input but just started experimenting with the Ultra input. I may end up doing a so-called channel switching mod as described on Instructables. The only thing I've changed so far is the power tube to an old 1958 GE 6V6GT that my father-in-law gave me. He's supposed to also give be an RCA 6V6 to try out. Not sure how much sound difference there is since you'd probably tell more with preamp tube changes but I like the nostagic aspect of old vintage USA made tubes. I really want to try an EL34 next though to nudge it a bit towards Marshall territory. I'd probably hear a difference then. I'm curious how my fellow S6U owners are setting the amp knobs for use with an overdrive and the pedal's gain/level settings too?
