 it's way more amp than just that.

switchable effect loop, boost, noise gate, reverb, power scaling, self biasing...seriously...read the specs.

It's made with JVM level parts/build method, not reissue build style.

Still, for $2500 kinda pricey for a one channel amp w/boost. Would I like to own one? Hell yes, but not until they are more like $1300.

I'm sure self biasing either means 'use the tubes we want you to' like Mesa or cathode bias, which would really be weird in an amp that meant to get classic fixed bias marshall tones.

paging Santiago, Santiago to the courtesy phone please!

Who wants self biasing anyways? I bias an amp based on how I want it to sound.....maybe hot, maybe cold, depends.

I'm not hot for this amp (already have a Metro plexi) but it has some great real world, useable features that are not actually that common all in one amp whether it's one channel or 4. Obviously the market will show if it's worth $2500 but I think it's not something that should be super cheap either. IDK, is it to be made in England or China? Definitely 2K is mentally a barrier I don't like to cross on an amp but remember tube amps from Asia are commonly 1K, or even more like Vox for eg. another simple design. If it's made in England with quality pcb construction it's going to be up there.

The self biasing just means you can use any el34 you like and it will set optimum settings for that particular tube's current draw..or something like that  .

I think u can still adjust the bias to what level u want, its just that u select the level and then the amp automatically self adjusts. I do wish that they would have used the RI format and not the modern jvm based , the insides on those look like a computers! I do think that the yjm clips sound awesome, I only worry about the build quality, but if u buy new , u get a warranty for a while at least.

Actually just saw the retail is 3K, so Marshall is typically an A mark, so cost would be 1500. If this amp is an A mark 2500 is really pushing it even for limited status.

is the YJM $2500> I think i saw a new AFD100 on ebay earlier today for $2000>

The valve fault indicators are a nice feature... Never seen them before.
Good for a tech-noob like me.

There is a bias trim pot on the back of the amp that allows you to manual set it as well. Looks like the same set up that is on the AFD. The AFD manual is here:
http://www.marshallamps.com/downloads/files/AFD100 hbk.pdf

The bias section is explained and they also list all the bias ranges for different octal output tubes that can be used in the amp. Very cool to see Marshall getting on board with the multi output configs.

Marshall has had the tube fault LEDs on the JCM900 series and 30th anni amp off the top of my head

Made in the UK. Check out the above link to the AFD manual for all the bias info. It's a pretty cool feature.

Cheers,

Just got the word that the YJM's won't ship till July. Can anybody verify this?

I have zero interest in any amp with a built in "Noise Gate"
Couldnt they just build an amp without noise?...or should I say, to be quiet?

That is because the DOD is noisy as hell! Yngwie uses 2 Boss noise gates. Just an opinion but those DOD units are really thin sounding, and only good to play ultra speed neo classical shred.

I totally disagree unless you're talking about the YJM DOD 308 being thin.. the original DOD grey is VERY full sounding..the YJM DOD is not even close to that spec. But yeah they are noisier than any pedal I've ever owned. It would be nice to know if its the YJM 308 or the original grey DOD in this amp, or if its added gain stage which may explain the extra preamp tube, unless that's used as a buffered effects loop ..
