So how long would that be? Is he supposed to wait a few months to spend the money in case the dude has a problem?
You're kidding me right? You wait until the gear has been delivered to the buyer and he's given you the thumbs up that it arrived as described. It's not like this was months later and the guy is hassling him now. He just got the guitar. He spent the money before the guy even got the guitar. Not a good idea. Clear now?

Whoa there cupcake. I asked because even on my high dollar items, it's rare I ever hear anything at all. Hence the question.

He said in his first post a month had passed.

Ok, sweetie...

If I ship something to someone and I don't hear from them, I email them asking them to confirm that things are cool. Then I have evidence if I need it. And in this case a month passed because he agreed to ship it to a third party who would then ship to the buyer in Germany, which was a really bad idea. You think the nephew is taking responsibility for this transaction - no way! You can do whatever you want, but without some verification that the transaction is cool before you spend the money, you leave yourself open to this shit. And that verification has to come from the actual buyer.

And btw, don't come at me like I overreacted to your innocent post. You are the one coming at me with the "how long is he supposed to wait, months?" bullshit...

Steve

caveat emptor in this case.

you gotta be smart though in how you play these dumb games with ebay and paypal.

OK,,I'll be the ass here , If I am reading this correctly, you had a 2" crack that was not photo'd or discussed until he received the guitar and can't believe there is a problem?? And everyone here is backing you?
He deserves his money back. :gethim: Please correct me if I am wrong in this finding.
+1

here is what ended up happening.

He sent me some really high res photos, which i then showed to a guitar tech whos opinion i trust way more than my own.
Turns out it HAD been reset. Albeit, a very clean job, hince why it fooled me. So i gave the guy back $200, and got my positive feedback. I put myself in his shoes, i mean if i got my new PRS hollowbody II and even though it is a keeper by my high standards, and it was a great price, i would still be bummed to find out after the fact, that the neck was reset at some point.

however, the simpsons video still applies...even though i was wrong :D

Glad it worked itself. Honestly reading your original post you should feel lucky to have had this problem, as soon as you said buyer in Germany wanting to ship to Atlanta I thought for sure your were being scammed.

eBay is doucheBay these days and offer little to no protection to the seller. The SOP seems to be buyers buying an item, taking delivery of said item then nit pick it to get $ back form the seller. If Seller doesn't play games the buyer files a PP dispute where the seller will get fucked 95% of the time. I had a guy do that to cheap LSR nut I had on eBay, I refunded him just to shut him the fuck up and and keep my 100% feedback as a seller and a buyer.

I haven't sold anything on eBay in years, I have so much stuff that I need to sell I may as well open up shop ;)

Send him $200 and be done with it. Oh just read above post and that's what you did perfect
