I have grown very tired of the stock snare samples contained in the EZDrummer DFH package. I feel as though the stock snare samples are holding back the potential in some of my clips and I am not in a position to invest time into a more comprehensive solution (Superior or BFD). Is it possible to add snare samples to the interface? If so, is there a simple walkthrough? I am pretty much a "nOOb" in terms of programming drums. I can always use the snare from the Pop/Rock set but I found some snare samples that I really like and would prefer to use those. I use Fruity Loops to program the drums. Thanks!

Not sure about that, but have you tried EQing the snare itself to get the tone you want? I really dislike the tone of the bass drums on DKFH, personally, and use an EQ to fix it.

I agree...the snare on EZDrummer DFH sucks!
I wish you could change the tuning the way I could with regular DFH (v1).

I remember reading somewhere on Andy Sneaps forum that people were using a different snare by replacing the samples...but I never read how to do it or anything. They're just wav files....so maybe you just need to rename some original files.OLD and then rename and replace them with the new sample files?

Are you using a parametric or graphic EQ? I am just happy with the overall character of the snare samples. I found a great snare sample I would love to use and I'm just a bit clueless on how to set it up.

I agree. I'm just not sure on how to set it up or route it. I really am green in terms of switching things up. I really like the way your drum tracks sound.

I use a compressor and graphic EQ. Either one will work, really.

There is a program called Drumagog that allows you to change samples within drum patterns. You could also ask on the Toontrack EZdrummer forums.

^^

Drumagog! Thats what i was gonna mention. Although i HAVENT used it yet.. learning tonight with a friend. Maybe i can post some before and after samples.

I did some research not long ago about "how" to change a snare or kick out. Seems like everyone use's this. Apprently THIS is what you do but i havent tried it yet. As i said ... tonight

To replace the stock kick drum with a sample from drumagog first you go to the ezdrummer mixer and under the sliders there is the Output menu or whatever its called. Set the output to Multichannel. Now on your sequencer software's mixer go to Channel 1 and add Drumagog as an effect. Load up a sample of your choice and it will replace the sound(in this case the stock ez kick) with the sample.

Friend told me this in a PM from anothwer board

Hope this helps!

Are you using a Guitar Pro file for the drums?
If so, change the snare from "40" (electric snare) to "38" (accoustic snare).
The electric snare sounds crappier then the accoustic snare when porting the drums from a guitar pro midi file into EzDrummer DFH.

I noticed that too! It's like one triggers a "pussy" snare hit, and the other triggers a man's snare hit!
