great player. Fast, and creative solo's, AND he does that with his medical condition. An underrated player, and an ispiration for many musicians to keep playing.

ALWAYS LOVED THE GUY

Like his tone, and he has catchy rhythms. Lead work, meh.

First 2 Crue albums .... IMO still have some of the best riffs " eva "

he's awesome live too

Yeah but didn't Nikki Sixx pretty much write all of the rhythm/riff stuff? Not knockin' Mic. Just sayin'.

nikki mainly did the lyrics, and mick mainly did the riffs.

Are you sure about that? I was under the impression that he wrote the basic riffs as well. Mick may have colored 'em up, but I think the main structure was there already. I could be wrong, but this was always my belief from interviews etc. I've for sure seen Nikki say, "my songwriting is what made us .............. blah blah blah." Songwriting is more than lyrics.

fair enough, what do I know? just what i assumed, and read.

I would have to agree with you here a bit ..

I remember alot of the same thing from back then .. Nikki always boasted he did most of the writing ... wether it was riffs or lyrics or both who knows ..
But Mick played them .... man.... he had nasty , gnarly , cranked Marshall tone ...

but I never liked his Kramers :scared:

good riffs but solos arent great saw motley in london this year he played this solo thing to fill up time it was shit i walked out and went for a beer it sucked soo bad!

Yeah but it's not like any of their songs are hard to play. I've never found one I can't play pretty easily, and I'm pretty average I think. Mick is a solid rock player with an SLO. That's a winning combo no matter what. I can say hats off to him for being able to play with being sick or whatever it is that's up with him. I watched a live YouTube of them doing the newer version of Shout at the Devil, and he was right in the pocket even though he looked like he was ready to keel over dead.

micks not great but he doesnt suck, honestly he gets the job done and makes stuff thats simple and that you will remember.

Nikki can't even play bass, let alone a guitar. Mick wrote the riffs, and they let Nikki write the lyrics. :D

I have Shout and Too Fast burned on to 1 disc ... I gave them a listen again yesterday after I saw this thread ...

IMO ... for the time these albums came out he had some incredible grinding rhythm tone ..

and yes the songs are usually quite easy to learn and play ... and I think that's what makes him even better ..

loud , simple , and in your face ....

I think " too young to fall in love " is still one of the coolest hair ,metal , 80's songs

really cool progression

That said, after meeting him in person, I’ve got to say that he was one of the most passionate people there is when coming to talking about guitars and gear. He was also one of the nicest guys I have met in a long time.

Next to Kirk Hammet the luckest bitch in music, freaking hack.

I liked some of the riffing in Too Fast For Love and Shout at the Devil, that's about it :)

That's the Crue I like. Anything after that and they lose me with the cheeze factor.

Theatre of Pain was the beginning of the end for me also ...

I did like a few tracks off of Girls Girls Girls .. and maybe a song or 2 after that
