suck soooo bad :aww:

Had a fuckin crusher tonight to the point that I almost threw up. Had to take a bunch of Excedrin for it to go away(rx meds don't work  )

Anyway, excedrin has a shit-ton of caffeine so I can't sleep now  But my headache is finally gone and I'm getting in some good (albeit quiet) guitar playing.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it. :scared:   :)

Been there many times, I know what your going through. I've had migraines for at least 20+ yrs. Excedrin does work for me also, just be careful it's not good for your stomach and esophagus. Eat food when you take it. Go to the doc if you haven't already, there are meds that help the bad ones. i use imitrex when they get bad and it works very well. Good luck, hope you grow out of them or find a solution.

I used to get them all the time...now about once or twice a year. I have a warning sign...the "Aura" in my eyes, when that happens I take my medicine, lay down and am usually good later on. I cannot take any prescribed stuff like Immitrex because it makes me sick so my Dr. prescribes me Xanax and Tylenol 3 as long as I take them right after the warning sign I usually don't get the headache.

Many years ago I got them so bad, literally as one would stop I'd get another...went on that way for about a week, so they put me on Beta Blockers for 14 days. Since then I get 1 or 2 a year tops. Migraines are nasty stuff...it's funny how so many people think they have them and have no clue what one really is.

I feel your pain Brother. Literally. Thank God I haven't had a bad one in a long time. It was brutal when I was young and had no medical insurance. Usually, at the onset of the scintilating sartoma (light show/visual distortion) I can knock it out with a cocktail of Imitrex and codene. But I am not worth shit the rest of the day.

Hope the frequency reduces for you.

I have a condition called Chronic Daily Headache, which means exactly what it says..I've got a headache/migraine every day. It varies in intensity from about a 4-9, constantly, every day. I've been learning to deal with it, but it's really fucking up my life right now.

I feel your pain guys, it's a difficult thing to get over. Hope everyone here finds a solution soon.

make your diets less inflammatory...use fish oil, eat more fruits and veggies and less acid producing stuff like grains. it will help a ton, and if you stuck to it it would probably go away completely.

Ask your Dr. about Beta Blockers, worked for me all those years ago. Might be worth a shot. I only took them for 14 days.

I just woke up, and I feel another one coming on

I'm 28, been getting these since I was as young as I can remember. I used to get them almost every day. If I vary my caffeine intake during the day, or eat too much salt/processed food, or change my sleep routine(which happens a lot with a 6 month old daughter, as I'm sure some of you know) then I instantly feel a migraine setting in. I actually have a pretty healthy diet, but it sucks that I can't have a couple slices of pizza without paying for it with a migraine.

I currently don't have insurance because I had to quit my job (which was pretty decent pay+bene's) and move back home where there are no jobs for family reasons... Hopefully I can get on my wife's insurance early next year and see a doctor to get this under control. :bash:

Well at least you guys know where I'm coming from. People that think migraines are just "regular headaches" can suck it!
Now if you'll excuse me I'm going to lay in the dark with a cool wash cloth over my eyes and NOT watch football :(

Yeh if you are getting head aches like that you want to look into Beta Blockers or ask your Doctor about it..
Then the thing you have to watch with beta blockers is the timing when you take it you have to try and take it before the head ache occurs full strength ...
For it to work efficiently

Already gone through that whole process..wasn't too effective, sadly.

If anyone's got some vicodin/oxy's, feel free to ship some to me and glassjaw7

My g/f takes a daily pill for Migraines called Inderal since the Beta Blockers do not work all of the time...

Beta Blockers take more than 14 days to work, your body has to get it in to the system for it to work efficiently..
That is why a doctor will give a 1-3 month prescription...
But some people it will not work or help them..

I'm glad to hear she's found something to help!

Does she go to a pain center, a neurological clinic, or just the family doctor?

Well some of the Migraine pills are deemed Narcotics so you have to go through certain tests and diagnoses in order to get them if not they are tough to get a prescription for...
You also have to be careful with what your occupation is, like having a CDL license and ect which may require that you not have certain drug chemicals in your system..
Example My g/f's mother had a bad head ache she gave her mother a beta blocker just on coincidence she had been tested and failed her tests for having Barbiturates in her system..

My g/f has a Internal Medicine doctor who is also her Family doctor, Neurologist, and Nephrologist..

She says Beta Blockers is an Inhibitor so it requires certain dosages and lengths of time in order to work correctly...

Ah, I see.

I used to go to Diamond Headache Clinic in Chicago, IL, They put me in the hospital for 3 weeks, and we've gone through a vast array of meds over the past 9 months. Nothing has been helpful except for the narcotics, which he wont prescribe. They are the only thing that can get me back up and functioning.

I'm trying to switch over the Millennium Pain Center here in Pontiac (as well as Bloomington), so we can try something new.

Marijuana helps migraines. Hopefully they legalize it so people can begin to reap it's benefits without feeling like they are breaking laws.

Ah that sucks man so they are basically not giving you a prescription for what you need..
She has been going through this for 6 years and pretty much been there and done that with all of that stuff..
In order to prevent Migraines she does the following..

She takes Inderal twice daily.. <-- Beta Blocker..
For situations where she senses a regular Head ache she has <--- Froicet
And for the serious Migraines <-- Maxalt oral disintegrating goes right to the blood stream..
Because she gets them so bad she pukes and if she took a pill it would just come right back up..

She takes IMMITREX also..

Then an anti Nausea pill Reglan (Metoclopramide)

Exacly..they won't give me what I need to live my life. I cannot function like this anymore.

That regimen almost mirrors my aunt's. She has classic migraines (sounds to be the same as your wife), and those prescriptions seem to help her quite a bit if done correctly.

Yeh it is tough man I have another friend of mine that gets Migraines and his doctor will not give him any of the Medications previously mentioned..

Yeh she says it took 2-3 years with taking different stuff until they found what worked..
My girl friends says find another doctor...

She also says Marijuana helps too if you cant get meds ..

Well, it's good to hear she found a way to control it. My condolences to you and her. If anyone here knows what it's like, it's me, having one every second of every day.

Hope the treatment is effective for her in the long run!

Oh, and the offer I posted previously is on the table. I'm sure glassjaw would appreciate it as much as I would.
