Oh fuck me... third day in a row :scared:

Pretty sure I'm going to the doctor tomorrow, insurance or not.

Imitrex / Imigran did nothing for me. It made my asthma a lot worse and made me very drowsy.
Codeine 30mg-60mg helped a lot of the time.
I do not get them any more. Since consuming shrooms the worst I have had is a standard headache.
Doctors not giving out meds... go to a different doctor. That is just ridiculous.

what narcotics by the way ? I would be very careful if you got some of the heavier stuff. you do not want to be addicted.

I am working on a referral to Millennium Pain Center right here in my own town. Hopefully they will give me the drugs I need.

I know it's a slippery slope, and I understand the risks, but I can't live like this anymore. The narcotics dramatically increase my quality of life. They allow me to function in the every day world...get my work done, play with my band, enjoy time with my friends.

All of my friends have left me because I'm always in too much pain to hang out/help them/ect..

Glassjaw, you shoud look into going to a Pain Center/Headache Clinic. Diamond Headache Clinic is Chicago does wonders for people, I've seen it first hand. Sadly, it wasnt effective for me, but fit has been for many others. Given your description of your symptoms, you sound like you experience standard Migraines, which Diamond can help.

There are many other good HC's around the country as well.

I get migraines, most often they are stress induced but food, light, and other stuff will do it too. Typically I take 800mg ibuprofen and 1200mg tylenol at the same time, then lie down somewhere dark and cool. I had an inhaler of imetrex and it was alright, but after splitting up with an absolute bitch my headaches thinned out that I didn't need the prescription.

My g/f takes a daily pill for Migraines called Inderal since the Beta Blockers do not work all of the time...

Beta Blockers take more than 14 days to work, your body has to get it in to the system for it to work efficiently..
That is why a doctor will give a 1-3 month prescription...
But some people it will not work or help them..
Well the Beta Blockers I took for 14 days stopped mine...so yeah it worked for me. And yes I know about taking things for extended periods i.e Effexor...14 days straight is plenty of time for something to enter your system.

And no my Dr. was not trying to medicate one single or multiple headaches...what he was trying to do and succeeded in my case was reducing tension over a short period of time that was restricting blood flow to the brain. Regardless of what triggers Migraines...stress, foods, jaw alignment etc... Ultimately it begins with the restrict and release of blood flow to the brain.

As I stated earlier...I'm lucky that I get the "Aura" in my eyes before the actual headache. That gives me probably 15 to 20 minutes to take my medicine (combo of Xanax and Tylenol w/codiene) and chill out for a bit.

My migraines started in the 8th grade...for years there was nothing I could take. I've had them so bad I've forgotten phone numbers, forgotten how to play guitar for a few days. I've had my face, tongue, hands, arms all get numb...nasty, nasty stuff. What led to the Beta Blockers was that I was having them constantly...everyday, my head felt like a punching bag. Nearly 20 years later after the Beta Blockers...I maybe get 2 a year. Now I understand that this is just my case...people are very different. But it worked for me.

Got the blurry vision/light show this morning, had a bad headache all day.

Imitrex and good old vicodin with some coffee made it tolerable after a few hours.

Hi I'm skoora's wife. I work at a health food store. I have a neurologist that sends his patients in for 3 things for their migraines. Magnesium Glycinate 200 mg 2 times a day, CoQ10 100 mg once a day and B-2 100 mg once a day. This has been as successful for his patients as a preventative taken daily as any other script has. A thought..

I have a condition called Chronic Daily Headache, which means exactly what it says..I've got a headache/migraine every day. It varies in intensity from about a 4-9, constantly, every day. I've been learning to deal with it, but it's really fucking up my life right now.

I feel your pain guys, it's a difficult thing to get over. Hope everyone here finds a solution soon.
Ask your Dr. about Beta Blockers, worked for me all those years ago. Might be worth a shot. I only took them for 14 days.

Did somebody say something about "blue blockers"

Sorry haha, I have chronic migraines and so does my girlfriend, I have been given T4 and Maxalt http://www.maxalt.com and it seems to help my, however it does fuck all for my g/f so she has stronger shit.
I don't get the aura or halo stuff people complain about, but I get them to the point where I can't see or have light, smells or sounds around, I have to put a cold compress on my eyes and put ear plugs in. Fish and shrimp really affect and or cause my headaches. I will try some of the ideas up there, but I LOVE spicey food!

i've got one right now - i too suffer from migraines and extreme sinus headaches and tension headaches

jaw alignment, stiff neck from sleeping wrong, stress from a long day, oversleeping, eye struggling, awkward evening sun/light, allergies, sinus problems, they all contribute to mine.

the worst ones are behind my eyes - they just pound my head.

laying my head down, dark or light rooms, nothing works. it only gets worse

ive tried prescription relpax and it doesnt even touch mine

the only thing that usually touched my migraines was 800-1,000Mg of ibuprofen and even then it never worked quick enough. i always ended up sideways over the toilet puking my guts up and making it even worse.

ive felt like i wanted to die a few times during the mess.

ive also woke up and had memory lapses, a bright moving pinlight in my eyes once in a while, and impared speech ability.

i cant do anything about it because my grandparents are broke and i dont have the cash to see doctors about it. i carry excedrine migraine medicine on me at all times because i couldnt make myself take such large doses of ibuprofen anymore. the speech thing really bothers me...i m getting ready to take a few excedrine as i type this right now.

fucking sucks guys i feel for anyone else that has to go through this :aww:

I use narcotics for all head aches if they do not go away. They all have about the same addiction line. Coming off codeine is worse the H in many ways.

the kick all depends on how high your habit/tolerence is.

I use them for hang overs most of the time. Since I do not drink much .... it has been years. I had a habit ... but that was almost 30 years ago. I well never do that to myself again. .... but your right, you build a tolerance very fast with that stuff.

Fun times, that shit just sneaks up on you. Ask me how I know this.

It amazes me the shit we can get wrong with us. I had migraines for awhile and they went away. Now I got cornea erosion in both eyes. What happens is my cornea outer layer will stick to my eyelids when I sleep. When I wake up my outer layer of my cornea is ripped off  Talk about PAIN  Now I have to wear google to bed and apply pressure to my eyes with all the ointments  I've noticed my sex life going down hill lately. I look pretty weird with those swimming googles on in bed

I don't know...I've seen some porn where swimming goggles are needed. Maybe you can make some extra money on the side. :bleh:
