OT: NHL Playoff Picks 2010

Big BlackHawks fan here and I hope they go a long ways but I am seriously worried about goaltending and being able to hold a lead which they have been terrible about lately.

Bring back the NORDIQUES.

I suspect the Pens wil beat Ott in 6 or 7 but unless they tighten up considerably and Fluery plays like he can they will not go much further.

I just can't see the Pens losing to Ottawa. The only reason they've been struggling a bit lately is because they were missing Malkin and Gonchar. The Pens are a veteran team despite how young they are. They know they need to turn it on now in the playoffs.

Experience is definitely on their side this year. I just think that the defensive struggles may be too much for them to get over.

This is how I feel. Fleury isn't standing on his head right now and the defense isn't showing up. I'm pleased with the play of Orpik and Mckee, but everyone else (Gonchar, Letang, Goligoski, and Leopold) can step up their game. The blue liners have looked terrible in terms of puck control and nobody challenges anyone in front of the net.

The Sens/Pens series will be interesting. Ottawa really know the Pens. More than any other team maybe. The Sens are different than last year, and if Sutton starts leveling the Pens forwards it will shake the goal scorers confidence considerably.
But who knows, the Pens are a really good team, but so are the Sens.
The 4th and 5th place team playoff match up is always a tough one because it's almost like a semi final series, played in the first round.

Leoplold seems to be coming on as does Malkin. The team as a whole needs to step up. Orpiks has looked very solid all season. Fluery to me is the biggest question mark.

Congrats to Phoenix for having a great season. Nobody saw that coming! Might be nice to see them have some playoff success as well. That area could use some good news. I also would have liked to have seen the Avalanche supported a bit better...another team that was given no chance and had a great season with what they had...and not many people saw it, too bad.

I know anything can happen, but I honestly can't believe Ottawa is a 5 seed. I don't think they're that good and I'm saying the Pens sweep or win in 5. Also, the Western conference seems a lot stronger top to bottom, but I think the elite Eastern conference teams are far better than the elite Western conference teams.

Alright boys, it's that time of year again! Let the race for the world's greatest trophy begin! Here are my first round picks:

Round 1
WAS vs MTL - rooting for Montreal, but I don't think they stand a chance.
NJ vs PHI - this one is a bit tougher, but Philly backed into the playoffs so I'll take NJ
BUF vs BOS - Miller gets my vote for the Hart this year, he'll be the difference.
PIT vs OTT - Never going to root against my boys!
SJ vs COL - SJ will make it past the first round, but they'll choke yet again soon after
CHI vs NAS - Toughest pick of the first round for me, but I'll go with Chicago.
VAN vs LA - LA will put up a fight, but they don't have enough experience- the Sedins and Luongo should pull it off
PHX vs DET Easy pick here.

Hard to know who's goaltending is going to show up, bunch of these goalies have played well but haven't proven themselves yet, so the first round should be interesting!
GO SENS GO!

Here's my picks:

WAS vs MTL - rooting for Montreal, but I don't think they stand a chance. (I agree for sure).
NJ vs PHI - this one is a bit tougher, but Philly backed into the playoffs so I'll take NJ. (NJ is tough).
BUF vs BOS - Miller gets my vote for the Hart this year, he'll be the difference. (I agree again).
PIT vs OTT - Never going to root against my boys! (Will be a good series. I like the Sens).
SJ vs COL - SJ will make it past the first round, but they'll choke yet again soon after. (Yup!!)
CHI vs NAS - Toughest pick of the first round for me, but I'll go with Chicago. (GO HAWKS!!)
VAN vs LA - LA will put up a fight, but they don't have enough experience- the Sedins and Luongo should pull it off (Don't care much about this series).
PHX vs DET - Easy pick here. (Don't agree. Phoenix will be the surprise team this year I think).

YES!! LOVE NHL playoffs!!

Night of upsets or what? Works for me :D I'd love to see Heatley out in the first round!

Hard watching part of the NJ/PHI game though- I hate both teams and have no idea who to root for   Go for the mind-numbingly boring team to watch that might pose a threat down the road, or the bunch of dirty @ssholes in orange? hmm...

Now, c'mon Montreal, keep the trend going!

Sens played great. Can't wait for game two!

The Hawks are solid, but their goaltending can be iffy at times. Niemi is usually pretty good, but if we get a big lead, it seems like everything falls apart, including the play of our defensemen. Before you know it, a 5-1 lead becomes a 5-5 tie. We'll see though. If it gets to the point where we have to bring in Huet, we know we're in trouble.

The Hawks goaltending needs help from Keith and Seabrook. They have to stop offensive rushes, hit, and clear the zone. Their recent Olympic experience will hopefully help them with that.

Sweet, Habs upset the Caps in game one, that was awesome! Great game to watch too, really fast paced. Good to see the Canucks win too! Hopefully the Sens keep it going tonight despite being down Michalek!

HELL YEAH!!!!!

HABS forcing the caps on a 7th game.

Halak was a WALL with his 53 saves. it was really sick to watch

I want Montreal to win that series so bad. If they do, the Pens will have a cakewalk to the finals. New Jersey always wins our division, then they implode in the first round. Hilarious.

Oh and did anyone see Ovechkin spraying snow on a little kid in a Montreal jersey last week? All I can say is that he's a classless, dirty, selfish player. It's unreal that he's the second biggest star in the NHL and he's one of the only dickheads in the sport. You will never see Sidney Crosby do anything that childish. Pathetic.

EDIT: Even if the Caps beat Montreal, they don't have a good enough goalie to win it all. They seem to think Theodore is the man...yet this is the second year in a row he gets pulled for Varlamov who isn't that good either and has very little experience. Ovechkin has what, 1 playoff series win in his career? Guy can't get it done when it counts the most. Polar opposite of Crosby. Absurd that people can even argue he's the best player in the league IMO.

I agree man... Crosby owns Ovechkin big time... and their goaltender sucks...I mean, I hated theo when he was with the habs... 2 goals in two shoots, that's bad

BTW New Jersey are playin' golf and Jacques Lemaire announced his retirement...
