OT: NHL Playoff Picks 2010

DET vs SJ - The Sharks are one of those "on the cusp" teams. They've been close over the past couple years; however, they haven't made it to the big game. I think Detroit's luck will run out here.
VAN vs CHI - Two teams that I rarely get to see. I'm going with the Blackhawks, though. I think they have the better team. Will this be the year Hossa finally gets his cup? I hope not.
PHI vs BOS - I think Boston will pull this one out if they keep playing good defense. If Philly can find a way to score, Boston will be in trouble. They've proven that they don't have much scoring ability.
MON vs PIT - Again, rooting for my team. I think that the Pens have enough firepower to outscore the Habs. Losing Staal will hurt, but the Habs losing Markov balances it out somewhat.

Wonder who they're going to start in goal on Sunday? And yeah, Markov is their version of Gonchar. I hope Staal won't miss any games either.

Yeah Staal being out for an extended period of time would seriously hurt the Pens given he's usually matched up against top lines and is one of the Pens best penalty killers... hoping he won't be out long.

I'm not holding my breath:

Pens' Staal undergoes "procedure"
Saturday, May 01, 2010
By Dave Molinari, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

Penguins center Jordan Staal has undergone what coach Dan Bylsma described as a "procedure" to repair a severed tendon in his right foot.

Bylsma said he is listed as "day-to-day" and pointedly denied reports that Staal is out for the season.

Staal was injured in a collision with Montreal defenseman P.K. Subban midway through the second period of the Penguins' 6-3 victory in Game 1 of their second-round playoff series at Mellon Arena Friday night.
More details in tomorrow's Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

So far, not so good for the Hawks. Niemi needs to control those rebounds. He set up Raymond for his one-timer at the end of the period

I will say that Luongo looks pretty solid so far tonight.

if it's Price we loses. I can't believe this guy is still there   during the regular season I couldn't watch the games he's there 'cause he allows pathetic goals because he's hungover

Halak looked terrible last night. He was playing almost every angle wrong, giving up huge rebounds, had no idea where the puck was half the time, and just looked tired. I don't think they have a chance with either goalie though.

Yeah he was tired, he got bombarded in the last games... and the PK was awfull. I mean, game-delayed penality and too many players

I think we can get past Montreal without Staal, and probably even whoever wins the Boston/Philly series. I just really think the Pens are miles better than the other three teams left in the East. We'll definitely need him to win another Cup though.

That was a rough one to watch last night. I was bartending and I had to keep apologizing to some young ladies sitting at the bar for yelling "what the fuck are you doing?!?!" at the hawks so much!
It looked like they forgot there was a hockey game going on last night!

3-1 Montreal.. who would believe it??

Malkin was just pissed all the time (like Ovechkin and co.) Halak was pretty solid also.

Edit: it's WAYY off-topic. But WTF with that guy singin' the national anthem?? He has weird intonations and timing...

I honestly think Montreal played awful in that game. 6 shots in the last two periods, that's a joke. They got dominated the entire game. Halak was the only reason they won. They aren't going anywhere playing that style of hockey and relying on their goalie to make 50 saves a game.

Maybe... but the scoreboard has the final word ;)

HALAK is just too good :rawk:

My Pens played like shit!

They actually played great I thought. They dominated the game and had the puck in Montreal's zone for basically the entire game. Halak was just making all the saves. Fleury played mediocre yet again. He really needs to step it up. His save percentage is horrible. In fact his save percentage has been mediocre in the regular season his entire career and also the playoffs last year. I do like him and he usually does make saves when they count, but other times he just gives up pitiful goals.

A shutout from the flower. Those are pretty rare. He only had 1 the entire season. If the Pens win the next game, it's over.

Can't wait to watch hockey tonight!

Go Canucks!!!!
Go Bruins!!!!!

Montreal sucked! Embarrassingly bad. Without a great goalie they have nothing.

Go Vancouver!

Montreal looked awful last night. Lots and lots of sloppy play, and poor decisions hemming them in their own end. The Pens earned that win, no question. Hopefully the Habs can turn this around, so they can be stomped by the B's in the conference final.

Seeing the Sharks up 3-0 makes me smile.

Here's to hoping that the Bruins win tonight, we need to sweep the Flyers and end this.. Carcillo has soccer tryouts to get to.

When Montreal was trying to bring the puck out of their own end, they treated the puck like a hot potato, nobody knew what to do with it....'I don't want it, you take it'

Fuck do I ever hate :codeak: Carcillo

Pittsburgh did look good last night. Malkin was actually playing like he meant it. Don't count out Montreal though. Third period saw a lot more pressure from the Habs than from the Penguins.

Also, Detroit? Calling Detroit? Where are you? You have a playoff series to attend. It would behoove you to show up once in a while...

Halak did play great again, but when your team scores 0 goals, it doesn't really matter. The Pens were missing 2 of their best players in Staal and Guerin too. Detroit is done for sure and I'd say Philly is as well. I'd rather the Pens face the Flyers than the Bruins though. Boston has good goalies, Philly doesn't.
