I see this thread about to take an off-topic turn, so here is my Saiga 7.62:

Awesome! What kind of AK??

Unfortunately in NJ, the Saiga is the closest thing to an AK that I can own. I really dig my conversion though.

Yup, that's right....... .223

Nice...

My buddy has the Saiga .223

Really fun weapons! My first gun.

Debating handguns: Sig P229 vs. H&K P2000, it's driving me nuts!

Looks great! You can't have what, a bayonet lug and 30 round mags?

Thanks man!

Yep, no lug, no grenade launcher (who would need it haha), no 30 round mags, no flash suppressor. Muzzle brakes are supposedly "allowed", but I spoke to a reputable gun advocate from NJ who said it was voted that muzzle brakes are considered flash suppressors since they suppress the flash in one direction...so lame.

Also, the "blocked" 30 round mags are a big debate. They need to be permanently blocked, but the law doesn't state anywhere what "permanent" is, so the lawyer advised me against it. I'm fine with my 10 and 15 rounders. It's funny though, I can only use 15 rounders if it's in the unsporting category. When I put the pistol grip on, it was considered unsporting.

I have to be 922r compliant, I'm sure you know what that means. I have to have a total of no more than 10 foreign parts. My handguards (1 part), buttstock (1 part), trigger group (3 parts) are all American made. The pistol grip is American too, but it doesn't count towards or against compliance since it isn't an original part of the gun.

Yes, we have some VERY wacky laws here in NJ. I go to a sweet range though.

Yeah, I think I am leaning towards the Sig P220 DAK.

-Joe

Wow! Noice range!

Yup, I'm completely familiar with the compliance parts routine.

I carry a Glock 30 and 36. I shoot DA revolvers for fun, and occasionally carry one for more formal occasions. I'd like a Para LDA, but they're $$$$$.

Very cool! Yep, I'm looking to buy a handgun, and then my dream gun: an M1 Garand!! After that I will be content. I got the Saiga first because it was cheap.

M1 Garand is my favorite rifle to shoot!!! You will love it! With the correct ammo they are very accurate and comfortable to shoot all day, no lie. I've got a 1953 SA, all matching, no arsenal (rebuild) stamp.

edit: AK's have gone up 200-300% in the past 2 months. I'm getting ready to sell a couple. It's pretty much be bold and name your price, because the demand is so high right now that there are none on the shelves. No one wants to restock very many because of fear of what might happen Jan. 22nd......totally a seller's market for the time being.
Who knows? This might be your chance to trade a Saiga for a sweet Garand?

Awesome! I'm sure it will become one of my favorites as well. I honestly just respect the hell out of it, and want one bad!

I think I'm gonna hold onto the Saiga. I have a good source of Garands here in NJ, so I should be good. Honestly, I'm not freaking out over Jan. 22nd. So many people are paranoid as all hell, but I don't think much will come of it.

Knock on wood... ;)

Cool! What's the steel your knife's made from?

Idk if that`s what it`s called in English, but maybe "carbon steel"? (Translated from Norwegian :) )

Cool looking rifles guys.

Joe, I've had bad experiences with Sigs and that plays in to my recommendation but the P2000 is one of the nicest guns I've owned. In 9mm it was my favorite until the S&W M&Ps came out. I have to say though, the new HK P30 is the nicest one I've ever handled so give that one a look if you can.

There's a dude on the HKPro forums who bought a P2000 in 9mm and he's been doing a test on it. The last time I checked we was at 13,000 rounds with no cleaning. He had two ammo related failures in the time and that's it.

Your Saiga looks nice. I wish I would have gotten a Saiga .308 when they were a bit more plentiful but I'm somewhat shifting away from .308 in general. Still, it's a great gun and I should have jumped on one.
