Thankfully, for the benefit and enjoyment of almost everyone, the owner has agreed to allow OTC to have another run.

He's also agreed to the creation of multiple sub-forums that will help keep things organised in categories such as hobbies, cooking, TV /Movies, sport, automotive stuff and so on. Hover your pointer over the titles to see the descriptions. OTC used to be a shambles - one large jumbled-up area that made browsing a headache.

Rules

- The most-important rule is to not disrespect the mods.

- Grade-1 / Nazi-stye racism, porn, PDF accusations and physical threats are insta-ban material. A day or two, then 3 or more, then permanent.

- If you choose to continually act like a dick with obvious intentions of spoiling the fun for everyone, you'll receive fair warning and incrementally-longer bans.

- Use of other members' real names and / or pictures sans express or implied (they’ve already posted them themselves) permission is verboten.

Will be hard to completely refrain from discussing 'topics of the day' without a little
politics and germs and shit sneaking though.

The bleed-through phenomenon is well-understood. I understand that human beings are not machines.

This time there'll be more diligence in vetting objectionable behaviour in an effort to recreate a fun, happy place to hang out.

With any luck we should have most bases covered with this approach. No firm date for these additions is available at this time but I hope to see them soon.

Honestly brother, I haven't given this any thought and it hasn't been discussed.

My brief is to help make this a fun, happy place so if I were pressed to guess I'd say that the old rule of no nips / private parts would apply. IOW, no porn, but the rest should be OK as long as OTC isn't flooded to the point that it's perceived to be a poor-man's PornHub. :dunno:
 
The new sub-forums are up-and-running guys; hopefully they go down well.

Commencing the daunting task of shifting everything to where it belongs, which will take quite some time. Wish me luck!

BTW, I cleaned the thread up so relevant notices don't get lost in the noise. AFAICT most mods in the forum world tend to lock announcement threads but I like to keep the door open, so to speak, for relevant feedback, hence the need to "keep it clean".

Replaced the share-your-music sub-forum with "Comedy".

There's a sub-forum in the main area for personal music output and only one thread had been created in the OTC one, hence the aforementioned decision. It was redundant and I figured a bit o' comedy won't do anyone any harm.
 
Removed the "No More Politics" sticky.

Only served to confuse IMHO. Was outdated but left in-place nevertheless.

You have to have 50 posts total within our various forums to have the ability to PM. This is protect our amazing long time members from scammers in the Classifieds. Was it something you wanted to inquire about purchasing or something different? Monkey Man is on vacation right now, so your best bet is to try @JackBootedThug or @DanTravis62

Thanks for the reply and the welcome!! Actually I wanted to ask about posting instruments. I totally get having policy to protect the community. Ive been reading up on your rules, etc, but I just wasn't prepared to have to post 50x to gain access to classifieds or PMs. Ive been a long time member (20+ years) of talkbass. I'm a bassist and part time guitarist who was looking for a similar guitar site to help a recently deceased friend's wife sell his guitar collection. @JackBootedThug @DanTravis62 . Just wanted to communicate with the moderators privately to see if there were other ways to validate my being on the up and up. Thanks. Well I guess 48 posts to go..
