Good morning all. I need help with an overdrive, rather picking one out. I'm running a Gen 1 MT15, (the newer ones have different tubes) and for my main "clean" tone I have a Jrad archer.it worked great with my marshall I had but with the Mt 15 when I put ANY dirt into it to get that edge of breakup tone, it gets this really annoying half cocked wah tone. What would you use? OD1, ts9, ?HELP

I have three foundational overdrives to switch in and out before going boutique. If you have an amp farm then Boss SD-1, Maxon 808, and TS9 are where I would begin.

Any CLEAN boost should do the trick really. If not, go for something with adjustable mids like the Duncan 805 or even better the KMA Logan Drive where you can actually pick the mid freq to cut/boost.

If you find that the usual suspects are colouring the amp too much, grab an Xotic RC Boost. For me it's the best "your amp, just more" pedal...

The PRS MT15 is similar to a Mesa Boogie Recto sound. Look no further than the Maxon OD808, the OD808 doesn't chop off as much low end as the standard OD-9 or SD-1. It's about the perfect overdrive for your application. Plus if you pick one up and you don't like it you won't have any trouble moving them

I have had the regular Maxon OD-808 twice now and really enjoyed it both times and like I said for anything like a Recto type amp they just work........there is a reason most modern metal guys use them.....

I second what Purity said in his response, that SD 805 Overdrive is a great solution for this problem. The adjustable EQ on the pedal has really helped me to avoid certain unwanted tones like the overt half-cocked wah sound you mentioned. The Forza Overdrive is a good one too but for the amps you mentioned and what I think you're after, the 805 is the better solution, and you can find them pretty cheaply these days.
